Sudden flash of light
Counting heartbeats in the dark
Distant thunder sounds

Nora tiptoes through the room, trying not to make a #sound so Bob won't notice her. He busy with his Birds of the World Facebook group, totally unaware. She reaches him, grins, and squeezes his shoulder. Bob jumps. Not again! Mission accomplished, and nobody gets hurt.

#Sound travels in odd ways. Her mum's upstairs neighbours are moving furniture in the middle of the night. It sounds as if they're in the room with her as she tries to sleep, crashing on the walls around her, for hours.

No, her mum tells her the next day. There's no-one upstairs right now.

desperately wanting
to share her story
but silence seals her lips
&
the only #sound she hears
is fear banging on the door

She learned
not to make a #sound.

Now she teaches herself
to be the noise.

I forgot the hashtags. :)

Walking
By a River
Couple hears
An awful sound

Far bank cliff
Collapses
& flood waters
At them bound

They run
But it’s obvious
They’ll never
Make high ground

He hoists her
To a tree limb
& as she
Turns around

He mouths words
“I love you”
As flood waters
Drag him down

The #sound of pages turning
at a steady, measured speed
is the sound minds make when learning,
so please give kids books to read.

What you hear is lower than a fjord but deeper than most secrets.

They speak of their past and the ones blessed with those stories must carry on with better futures.

I love rocking
my little world
beyond
my study window

poetry
can spin
on a spindle

and I knit
and crochet
the threads

but
appointments
shopping lists
bills
still threaten

my demons
in disguise

so I rely on
my nightly
#delta waves
to erase them

allowing
my creative soul
to energise

What began as a faint glow at the leading edges of the #delta wing-body had brightened into an enveloping orange sheath.

"How does it feel to be the fastest pilot alive?" asked control.

I smiled. Yet cruising at the edge of the atmosphere, I longed for a clearer view.

#vss365 A #delta choked on its own heavy mire. The waterway looked less like liquid and more like polished slate under the iron-gray sky. The alluvial gods of mud, salt-crust, and rot endured in a state of simmering resentment, nursing ancient grudges against the sky gods who claimed the heavens.
