Seeking bull trout in the wild landscape of eastern British Columbia.

We descended miles down a gravel road, then a 3-mile hike past a landslide and beaver dam into grizzly country. Worth every step: Lou landed two magnificent bull trout and I landed one—all over 26 inches.

Hopper season!

Hoppers are a lot of fun to tie, and can do a solid job imitating a variety of insects. I like to tie and fish these on the smaller side.

Foam helps them sit high on the water, though the Madsen’s Skunk can fish lower (like a Stimulator).
