NASA’s next major telescope might see alien oceans and rainbows

The upcoming Habitable Worlds Observatory (HWO) should be able to spot the glint of water on habitable planets, and maybe more

The HWO is currently earmarked for launch in the 2040s.

Nuevo planeta creado por mi en 3D.
Kepler-62f. Se trata de un exoplaneta ubicado a 1.200 años luz del sistema solar, una supertierra de al menos 2,8 veces la masa terrestre con una gravedad posible del 141% , orbita a una enana naranja (una estrella más fría que el sol) ↓

About 3/4 of known #exoplanets were discovered using the #transitmethod, when the planet passes in front of its star. Or scientists measure a tiny orbital "wobble" as the star and its planet orbit a common center of gravity. 🪐🌌

Super-Earths are rocky #exoplanets orbiting distant stars, much larger and more massive than Earth, but smaller than Neptune. Astronomers have found over 1,800 of them! Our own solar system has no #superEarths. But many distant star systems do.
