Day6
M9 Ura 4-1 (L)
M12 Asahakuryū 3-2 (R)
Makes it look effortless sometimes #akibasho2026

Day6
M13 Asakōryū 3-2 (L)
M10 Kinbōzan 3-2 (R)
More stellar sumo today! Both would prefer an inside grip here #akibasho2026

Day6
M10 Ōhō 1-4 (L)
M11 Wakamotoharu 3-2 (R)
Motoharu bouts are getting fun to post again! #akibasho2026

Day6
M14 Tobizaru 2-3 (L)
J3 Ōnokatsu 3-2 (R)
Even when he takes it a bit slower Zaru sumo still looks like Zaru sumo #akibasho2026

Day6
J8 Ryūden 3-2 (L)
J5 Arashifuji 2-3 (R)
Pure unadulterated Arashifuji! #akibasho2026

Day6 mono’ii
J9 Enhō 2-3 (L)
J7 Tomokaze 1-4 (R)
Mono’ii determines Tomokaze’s leg/foot was out first as they flew out. Gyōji decision reversed, Enhō win #akibasho2026

Day6 jūryō
J9 Enhō 2-3 (L)
J7 Tomokaze 1-4 (R)
Both these men have had their injury troubles. Tomokaze is an accomplished pianist and had a very long surgery and injury leave some years back. There is a mono’ii, see reply. #akibasho2026

Day6
J12 Kayō 5-0 (L)
J9 Tōhakuryū 1-4 (R)
Kayō could go 6-0 for first time in his sekitori career. Kayō is doing less of his reel ‘em back sumo and it shows vs dodge weave and pull Tōhakuryū #akibasho2026

Day6 jūryō
J13 Meisei 2-3 (L)
J10 Tanji 4-1 (R)
Jūryō is hopping today! What a battle between former makuuchi regular Meisei and brand new to jūryō Tanji (he chose to keep the shikona Tanji, his surname, because the name has it’s roots in Fukushima, his home #akibasho2026

Day6 jūryō
J10 Nabatame 2-3 (L)
J13 Tokifudō 4-1 (R)
Great bout! And yes, Nabatame is indeed back from 1 day kyūjō for mumps.. Love the matching purple #akibasho2026

Kiri's rope run is donezo unless he goes on an all timer of a tear. #akibasho2026

Sad sumo noises ☹️

(happyforyou😠.jpeg for Fujinokawa tho) #akibasho2026

I grow tired of Chiyoshoma's crap. One trick pony.

and it's not even a good trick.

Sad sumo noises ☹️ #akibasho2026

Day5
Km Hakunofuji 1-3 (L)
Sw Fujinokawa 2-2 (R)
Hard to think of Fujinokawa as an underdog if he’s sekiwake but damn. Hakunofuji dominated 2 time champion Aonishiki yesterday #akibasho2026

Day5
Yz Ōnosato 3-1 (L)
M2 Yoshinofuji 0-4 (R)
If anybody could make Ōnosato drop another it’s Yoshinofuji #akibasho2026

Day5
M3 Churanoumi 3-1 (L)
Oz Kotozakura 4-0 (R)
Zakura continues to win with reactive sumo, but a wins a win #akibasho2026

Day5
Oz Aonishiki 3-1 (L)
M3 Gōnoyama 1-3 (R)
Aonishiki broke the seal and lost to Hakunofuji yesterday after beating his six straight times. Gōnoyama has one of the strongest tachiai in sumo, and they’ve only met once, so who knows? #akibasho2026
