#47 The Whisper Man

When his son is abducted, a widowed writer looks to his estranged father for help.

A waste of a really awesome cast. Formulaic. Not bad, per se, since the cast was so good, but predictable & forgettable.

#48 The Fall of the House of Usher

A man discovers a curse & fears his future BIL has entombed his fiancée prematurely.

Beautiful silent film. Exquisite sets and some really cool camera work.

#60/100 Resident Evil (movie, 2026)
Features: a glorified courier delivering an important medical package
.
This rules. An incredibly faithful adaptation from game to movie that also feels wholly original and is suuuuuper funny. Loved this.
#100DaysofHorror

59/100 Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (movie, 1995)
Features: giant monsters that truly cannot leave Tokyo alone
Back to a more serious picture, this one really explores some of the themes in the original Godzilla while also ramping up the Kaiju fight scenes to a phenomenal level.
#100DaysofHorror

58/100 The Blood Year Daughter by G.G. Silverman (short story collection, 2026)
Features: haunting stories of feral girls
.
I loooved this collection. Each story was clearly hones to perfection and they all have bite.
#100DaysofHorror

57/100 Exfoliation by Tamara Kaye Sellman (short story, 2025)
Features: very healing bath salts
.
I liked the set up here but it didn't go to very exciting places for me.
#100DaysofHorror

56/100 Return to Camp Sweetlake by Kaylee Petersen (short story, 2025)
Features: a haunted Sleepaway Camp on the brink of being sold
.
I loved this new surreal take on the sleepaway camp trope and thought it was the perfect length for a short story.
#100DaysofHorror

55/100 Censor (movie, 2021)
Features: a woman with far too much trauma to handle her day job
.
There was a lot I enjoyed about this one. I ultimately thought it tried to do a little too much with the premise to really stick but it's worth the watch.

52/100 Crypt of Shadows (Escape Room at Hour To Midnight in Portland, OR)
Features: solving puzzles in complete darkness.

I had never done a horror escape room before and I had a blast! It was designed well. A great blend of dark, cramped spaces, lil jump scares, and mysteries.
#100DaysofHorror

51/100 The Black Cat (short story, 1843)
Features: a man who grows violent to his cat.

This story has violence towards animals - that's kind of the point - so enter with caution but I really enjoyed this classic by Poe. The escalation of violence is well-paced.

The Stepfather (1987) 🎬

That great opening scene had me hooked, but Terry O'Quinn is the highlight. His 1950s-style 'perfect family man' demeanour and quippy one-liners had me cracking up, but the way he effortlessly flips a switch is a masterclass in tonal whiplash.

Magic (1978) 🎬

Anthony Hopkins & a ventriloquist dummy in matching shirts is the exact brand of unhinged wholesomeness I didn't know I needed. Bizarre concept but totally hooked me. Hopkins elevates it, & the Buffy writers definitely took notes for S1 ep "The Puppet Show."
