”Toshijima Island”, Mie Pref.
Toshijima is an island located in Toba Bay. It is known for its tourist attractions and historical sites related to the Kuki Suigun (Naval Forces, medieval pirates).
Length 60.5cm (23.8in) . Circa the 1970s or 1980s. #vintage

1. The Toshijima Island pennant. It features an illustration printed on navy blue fabric. The fringe around the edge of the flag appears to have originally been yellow, but it has discolored to blue, likely due to color bleeding from the main fabric.2. The illustration depicts a seascape of Toba and two Ama female divers at sea. It features white outlines on a navy background and is colored in green, brown, red, and light blue.3. Close-up of the illustration. Against the backdrop of the Toba Sea dotted with small islands, two Ama female divers are fishing at the water’s surface, holding wooden buckets. It appears that pearl oysters are placed in the baskets. Offshore, a hydrofoil cuts through the waves.4. The title is written in both Japanese and English. “Toshijima” (red) is written in calligraphic-style kanji. “NATIONAL PARK” (green) is written in uppercase italic letters. A pearl oyster and four pearls are depicted on the right edge of the flag.
