Are you employed? Financially ok and have the day off today? Consider donating your day's wages to an Indigenous organization. I've been doing it ever since I heard the idea 6 years ago.

A tangible way of "Taking Truth to Action" and making a long term impact. I donated here: bentarrow.ca #TRC

Image shows the email confirmation from Bent Arrow Healing Society after making a donation, which says. "Dear Giselle, Thank you for your donation to Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society. Your generosity helps us continue our work in supporting Indigenous children, youth, and families and makes a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve. Your donation and tax receipt details are included below for your records. Hiy Hiy"

I'm trying to speak but I can't find my words
You snatched it away, shattered my world
I lost my talk, my courage, my pride
For 500 years it's been hiding inside

September 30 - Orange Shirt Day and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
We wear orange shirts to honour the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Survivors of residential schools, remembering the children who never returned home, and acknowledging the ongoing intergenerational trauma carried by families and communities. Wearing orange is a visible act of remembrance, solidarity, and a tribute to Survivors, and the more than 4,000 children identified in unmarked graves.
The elements of the symbol for Truth and Reconciliation include: Circle - being together in a spirit of reconciliation
Stars - children who never made it home from residential schools
Pathway - the road to Reconciliation
Narwhal - Inuit peoples
Eagle Feather - First Nations peoples
Beaded Flower - Métis peoples
Orange - truth-telling and healing

On #TRC Day, let’s acknowledge that colonialism is always about mental wellbeing, but “living a good life” is a way for settlers to conceptualize it. This ecological restoration project is what reconciliation looks like. LEARN:
