We live in an age where everyone wants to be seen.
Yet one of the rarest gifts we can give another human being is our undivided attention.
Sometimes the most profound way to say “you matter” is simply to stop checking the phone.

There is a peculiar kind of intelligence in changing your mind.
Not because you were foolish before.
Because you learned something you didn't know before.
Consistency is admirable.
But intellectual honesty is rarer.
Your absence from someone's life may hurt them.
Your presence may also hurt you.
We are taught to fear losing people.
Perhaps we should also learn to fear losing ourselves while trying to keep them.
We mistake familiarity for truth far more often than we realise.
“This is how it has always been”
May be history.
It may even be tradition.
But it isn't evidence.
Some people don't fear failure.
They fear succeeding at something they never truly wanted.
That's a much harder failure to explain, especially when everyone else is congratulating you.

The strange thing about advice...
People often give you the answer they needed when they were living through a completely different question.
Listen to advice.
But don't outsource your context.
We don't always become tired from doing too much.
Sometimes we become tired from pretending that something matters to us when, deep down, it doesn't.
Nothing exhausts the mind quite like living against its own truth.

Perhaps growing up isn't learning who you are.
Perhaps it's finally having the courage to stop being who everyone else needed you to be.
The hardest identity to abandon is the one that earned you approval.
One of life's strangest ironies is that, you can spend years building a life that looks successful from the outside, only to discover you've become a stranger inside it.
Success is a poor substitute for recognition of yourself.

We often call it "overthinking"
Perhaps we're simply uncomfortable
with answers that don't give us
the ending we wanted.
Not every question is waiting for closure...
Some are waiting for acceptance.

Some doors don't close because you weren't good enough.
They close because you kept standing in the wrong doorway.
Sometimes rejection is redirection without the courtesy of an explanation.
We spend years trying to be understood.
Then, one day, peace becomes more important than being correctly understood.
That's when you stop explaining.
The older you get, the more you realise, silence isn't always emptiness.
Sometimes it's the sound of finally having nothing left to prove.
Sometimes, we don't miss the person.
We miss who we were when we believed they would never leave.
There’s a difference.
We spend years building a life that looks good from the outside - Career. Money. Status. Recognition.
Then, somewhere along the way, we have to answer a much simpler question - do I actually like the life I've built?

Growing older teaches you many things.
Perhaps the hardest is discovering that some of the people you blamed were right about you.
Self awareness begins where defensiveness ends.
#ThinkingDownTheDrain #Silence
Silence isn't always agreement.
Sometimes it's exhaustion.
Sometimes it's wisdom.
Sometimes it's acceptance.
And sometimes it's the moment someone finally realises, they no longer need to explain themselves.
