Noble and Nyx are off to an ... unpleasant start of their partnership.

#TheRomanticTalesSeries #OwnVoice #WritingCommunity

Noble was quiet, looking over the plans sitting on the dining room table, the fire crackling behind him as his mouth moved as he read the words.

“Do you always move your mouth when you read, hunter?”

Noble’s eyes snapped up, an unamused look on his face as he stared at me. “It helps me memorize the words.”

“Is it because you’re still so young?”

His jaw tightened as his eyes narrowed, “I am 245 years old, vampire. I am not a child.”

“And I am 4,505 years old. To me, everyone is a child.” I gave him a cheeky grin as I watched him scoff.

“Whatever. You asked me to come here. Now you insult me?”

“No, I asked you not to meddle in my personal affairs, you wouldn’t leave well enough alone, so here we are.“

He had no retort, he only grumbled in response.

Daxton is admitting to his sister and Daelan's best friend some information she did not see coming. I like this scene, I think it is kind of adorable and shows the positive relationship between Daxton and Steph.

#TheRomanticTalesSeries #OwnVoice #WritingCommunity

I don’t catch myself as I watch him walk, how he kneels down with Den and Ava and just … exists. And he’s mine. He’s my boyfriend. This man is … mine.

Steph does though, she catches on quicker than a turtle on a skateboard as she follows me gaze to exactly where I am looking. “Is there something on your mind, Daxton?” Her voice is teasing but with a warm under it all. “You looking at anything … specific?”

“We’re dating.” The words tumble out before I can think them over. Immediately, within probably half a millisecond, I look over at her and let out an awkward half-laugh that doesn’t quite land fully. “Fuck. Yeah. We’re dating.”

Steph just looks at me, her mouth half-hung open. I can almost see the cogs trying to turn in her head, the little people that work in her brain are trying to get the system back online. There is a silence that drags on forever, which starts to make me nervous. And then, as quickly as it started, she let out an ear-piercing squeal, knocking the chair over as she tackled me in mine, her arms wrapping around me in a hug I didn’t know she had the strength for. “You are NOT!”

(I am reposting this here. Fixed some spelling mistakes, too!)

Zakk takes home an injured black cat from the market the night prior. What he woke up with was, in fact, not the same cat he went to bed with.

#TheRomanticTalesSeries #OwnVoice #WritingCommunity

I would be lying to myself and to everyone else in my life if I didn’t admit I was having a meltdown. I had gone to bed with a sick, injured black cat and woken up next to another man.

At first, I could have sworn I was either still sleeping or having some medication-induced hullucinations about the whole thing. I would have believed that if not for the fact I reached over and touched him. The bandages from the previous night that were on the abdomen of a house cat were now on the skin of a human male.

Then he spoke, in a deep voice, looking straight at me as my fingers traced the bandages carefully. “Good Morning, Human. Thank you for taking care of these wounds last night. I had, sadly, been in an altercation with another cat who, much to my jargon, was not another shapeshifter in disguise”

Now, standing up on my bedroom floor, with a pointed finger at the man in my bed, I was trying to come up with words that could explain the absolute shock and astonishment.

“What? Have you never seen a shapeshifter before?” He said, so fucking calmly.

Bluesky suspended my author account (@silassummersauthor.bsky.social) for "spamming". I think I might have answered too many posts too quickly... whatever...

This snippet was too important to wait.

Zakk just woke up next to a non-cat Zeke.

They want and have peace. Sure, they like doing fun things, but I wouldn't call it an adventure lol.

Daelan figured he was gay at 14. He just accepted it and ran with it.

Daxton realizes he is bi at 24. He struggles hard with it and with his love for Daelan at first. Once they admit feelings, he accepts it pretty quickly.

Both of them would say each other. Although it took them 12 years to figure their shit out, they both know they were each other's first loves.

Daelan's Mom, Dr. Anette Abbott
Daelan's Dad - Dr. Roger Abbott
Daxton's Mom - Tina Dunn
Daxton's Boss - Jameson Hinkly (referred to as only Hinkly)

My series is pretty normal world stuff, nothing too dire though. Sexuality and Gender is viewed as completely normal and accepted. I wanted the series to be an escape from the shit show that is the real world right now.

Both.

Daxton asks Daelan to go for a tattoo so he can get a infinity symbol on his wrist in the bi flag colours. Daelan gets the same but in gay man flag colours.

Not in this one.

I have a few others where they speak a bit of french.

One character speaks British English, which although still English, is far different from Canadian English lol.

Mostly good. Most people are respected in general. Daxton's father is, however, not respected at all as he ran away from his family when Daxton was 13.

Accept yourself and good things will come. (At least I hope). I just hope they enjoy the fact the world I am crafting is very Queer friendly. It is escapism.

I didn't really use any advice. The story has a lot of my own personal events or memories from past relationships. I was the Daelan, one of my exes was the Daxton.

Daelan goes to his mom. She is the smartest person he knows and is very wise in her thinking.

Daxton goes to Daelan or his sister Steph, depending on what the issue is.

Daelan has a stuffed cat from when was born, it now fits in the palm of his hands.

Daxton will never outright admit it, but he has a stuffed orangutan his sister gave him when he was five.

Daxton is too caught up in a new relationship to read much.
