neighbor: Hi I see you have something going on your deck.
Would it help if we kill the outside lights?

me: Hi! yes it would. It's a new moon and I have some lights up to attract moths - | like to photograph them:)
neighbor: On it

me:We have some interesting things showing up because of the el niño weather

neighbor: Very cool
Just killed the deck lights.
Hopefully that helped.

Friday 9th October
Phyllonorycter geniculella : tenanted leafmine on Sycamore (F&C Canal, Maryhill)
I've neglected this family of leafminers this year due to rearing a whole host of other moth caterpillars but that'll all change next year.

Slightly calmer weather brought more moths (69) but less species (14) 🤷‍♂️
