May 9, 2026-Somewhere FM started becoming more than a prototype.I wasn’t only thinking about whether the music sounded good anymore. I also had to think about whether it could actually be broadcast.
The Weekend Kickoff is over for this week.
Thanks to everyone who spent part of their weekend with Jay North and Somewhere FM.
Different places. Same broadcast. Same moment.

May 9, 2026-Somewhere FM finally had a place to listen.I built the first version of the player with a live indicator and moving audio visuals. It was still rough, but the station was no longer just code and sound files. It had become somewhere people could actually visit.

Friday night is almost over in Japan.
The Weekend Kickoff with Jay North starts at 5:00 AM JST.
Different places. Same broadcast. Same moment.
Thursday night has a different feeling.
The week isn’t over yet, but the weekend is already starting to feel close.
Sometimes that’s exactly when radio fits best.

Algorithms are getting very good at giving us what we already like.
Radio still has one unfair advantage:
it can surprise you.

May 8, 2026-Kayla wasn’t created just to be “the second voice.”Jay was a Manchester sports journalist. Kayla was a Hawaii-born dancer. If both shows felt the same, the characters would be meaningless. Their topics, pacing, energy and worldview had to change with them.
Some nights you want to choose every song.
Other nights, it feels better to let the radio decide.
Not knowing what comes next is part of the point.
May 8, 2026-Somewhere FM got its second DJ.Jay came from Manchester. Kayla Tadokoro came from Hawaii-a fourth-generation Japanese Hawaiian and professional dancer.I didn’t want another version of Jay. I wanted the station to feel bigger than one personality.
ay and Kayla shared the airwaves this morning.
Different voices. Same broadcast. Same moment.
Thanks to everyone who spent part of Monday with Somewhere FM.
May 7, 2026-Another problem appeared fast, repetition.I realized a 24-hour radio station would need far more variety than I first imagined at least 175 talk themes.Building the voice was one thing. Keeping it interesting was another.
Jay and Kayla are off air for this week. Thanks to everyone who spent part of the weekend with Somewhere FM.Different places. Different lives. Same broadcast.
See you next time👋

May 7, Somewhere FM learned its first hard lesson making a voice speak was not enough. The first tests sounded more like a podcast than a radio station. That’s when I realized the music and the talk had to feel continuous not like two separate things stitched together.
LIVE ON AIR🔴
The Golden Hour with Kayla is on air.
