✅The City Council Hearing Has Been Rescheduled!! ✅

We just received news that the City Council hearing regarding the Academy of Natural Science has been rescheduled for October 26th!
The situation is pretty fluid. Stay tuned, stay engaged.
We WILL see you at City Hall SOON.
We WILL #savetheacademy

A Treasure At Risk

80 million years ago, a pair of Hadrosaurus frolic on the outskirts of their migrating herd, unaware of the fate of their eventual fossils, which are now at risk as the Academy Of Natural Sciences faces closure from Drexel University.

#SaveTheAcademy

From Dr Nina Ahmad, Philadelphia City Council Member at Large – Today, I was informed by the Chair of the Legislative Oversight Committee that the hearing to address the historic loss of the Academy of Natural Sciences’ public museum and to seek solutions to reopen it is canceled. #savetheacademy

🚨Hearing update🚨

The Oct 7th hearing regarding the closure of the Academy of Natural Sciences has been CANCELLED, and is pending rescheduling.

Don’t worry, Drexel. We will #savetheacademy.

Philadelphia City Council's Committee on Legislative Oversight's public hearing on Wed October 7, 2026, from 2-5 PM in Room 400 at Philadelphia City Hall on Drexel University's decision to close the public museum of the Academy of Natural Sciences. #SaveTheAcademy #Philadelphia #Dinosaurs #Science

Another reason for my anger at Drexel wanting to liquidate the Academy of Natural Sciences. Denying the past, stopping scientific research are acts of violence; normalizing violence. We are all related; all of us evolved from light-sensitive algae. #SaveTheAcademy #NobelPrize #TaxTheRich #FeedHumans

Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine: won by three who demonstrated that the light-sensitivity of rhodopsin in algae and eyes can map brain function. Optogenetics: high tech in a world lacking universal healthcare. #TaxTheRich #FeedThePoor #FoodIsMedicine #SaveTheAcademy #FundScience

🚨call to action🚨
Are you part of an organization or professional society that could provide a letter of support to the Academy? Check these slides.

Let’s #savetheacademy !

I voted in NJ01 for Donald Norcross for rep, and Cory Booker for senator. Because their goals including feeding and educating kids, and not rounding up Black and Brown communities. I hate their support of Nazisrael, and tell them so regularly. #VoteAgainstRepublicans #FreePalestine #SaveTheAcademy

Thank you!!

Wednesday October 7, Philadelphia City Hall. I'll be there with video cameras. #SaveTheAcademy @savetheacademy.bsky.social

This is the third day America doesn’t have access to the public side of the Academy of Natural Sciences.

We are demanding that change.

Meanwhile…

I am learning a great deal about Jewish religious holidays from Dr Abe in Michigan @abdulelsayed.bsky.social and Mayor Zoh @mayor.nyc.gov. Happy Simchat Torah! #SaveTheAcademy #FreePalestine #FreeUkraine #VoteOutRapistPedophiles #VoteOutEconomicCollapse

#SaveTheAcademy. Drexel University needs to view the Academy of Natural Sciences as an equal partner, not as property. We want a good divorce, with Academy walking away with the house, the kids, and the mortgage (ie, museum, 19 million specimens, debts to be erased by capital campaign). #GoBirds

Drexel University has closed the oldest Natural History museum in the US, and there are major efforts being done to save it!

Go watch my video, then visit @savetheacademy.bsky.social and their resources to see how you can help!

Dr Ruth Patrick was a giant. Ruth Patrick Institute told me she lived to 105!!!, came into lab every day past her 100th birthday. Dr Ruth listened, observed, paid attention. I have understood from #BotanyOfNations exhibit that all we ever needed to was pay attention to the Nations. #SaveTheAcademy

And in other news, the continued campaign by #Drexel to close the #ANSP is also taking some very concerning turns. Please read these updates on efforts to get transparency to #SaveTheAcademy from closure.
