An image depicting characters from Vivian Medrano's Hazbin Hotel. Lucifer is sleeping and Alastor, a dream eater in this alternative story, is grabbing onto Lucifer’s dreams. His dreams are depicted as four vignettes: one in Lucifer’s point of view where he's gazing at Alastor at a moonlit beach, another where Alastor and Lucifer are kissing whilst Alastor pushes Lucifer against a wall, another vignette where both are happily holding eachother's hands in a tall grassy field, and finally one where there is a close up of their clawed hands close together and they are both wrapping their pinkies together. Alastor is seemingly hungry and wanting these dreams for himself as he finds the particular flavor of intimate dream energy most enticing. The real world is depicted as drippy but the drips are going upwards instead of down, giving the piece an overall surreal feeling, which, is in tune with the dreamy aspect of the story.

He's just about to roll over and go back to sleep when he hears it—a faint shuffling sound from the other side of his door. He swings his hooves over the edge of the bed, stretching them out briefly with a stifled yawn. When Lucifer cracks the door open to peer out at the empty hall, he's not expecting to find much—KeeKee begging for attention or the little maid chasing bugs—it wouldn’t be the first time he found her patrolling the hall. Instead, what he finds is Alastor, curled up on the top step outside his room. He's wearing loose pajamas that hang off his frame, making him look smaller than he is—the black and red a mimic of his signature tattered suit—and his ears are drooped forward. The whole image is unreasonably soft, like some kind of dream, but Lucifer's pretty sure he has all his fingers and, for the first time in days, the ache in his chest subsides. "Alastor?" He nudges his leg with the toe of his slipper, but all he gets is a soft grumble as Alastor pulls his legs further away. Lucifer crouches down so they're at eye level, and his brows knit together tightly as his sleep-addled brain struggles to catch up with the fact that Alastor is sleeping on the floor outside his room. "Why are you sleeping here?" Alastor lifts his head and blinks slowly, out of sync, and stares at Lucifer like he's not sure that he's really there. "Couldn't sleep," he mutters finally. That explains why he looks like death, deep purple circles beneath his eyes, his ears barely able to stay upright. It doesn't explain why he decided the place to fix that is directly beneath the sign that very clearly bans any soliciting Alastors."Maybe that's because you're sitting in the hallway," Lucifer offers. Surprisingly, when he reaches for Alastor's hands to help him up, he lets him—thin fingers curling around his own as he struggles to get his hooves beneath himself. "Have you considered a bed?" he teases when Alastor doesn't immediately quip back. "Head's too loud. Quieter here." His voice sounds different, and it takes Lucifer a moment to realize it's the lack of a filter—without it, he sounds strangely human. Which, okay, yes. Lucifer is aware that Alastor was, in fact, a human not that long ago, but on the whole scale of sinner to demon, the guy puts on a really good show of distancing himself from humanity, which is why everything about this feels wrong in a way that Lucifer can't put into words. This isn't Alastor—not how he wants to be seen, at least. In fact, he's positive tomorrow Alastor’s going to pretend that this never happened. Right now, however, there are warm hands in his own, and the heady scent of alcohol and spices hits him as Alastor tips forward, like he's liable to fall asleep standing up. "Hey, Al, buddy. When's the last time you slept?" "Tower," Alastor mutters, the word barely audible as his eyes droop closed again. "I don't know when your last broadcast was," Lucifer reminds him. He has Alastor upright, half-leaning on him, half against the wall, and he's trying to figure out exactly what he's supposed to do with him when Alastor finally answers. "Vee tower." Lucifer pauses, racing through the mental math—if Alastor hasn't slept since they got back, he's going on four nights. No wonder he looks like shit.
