the climb elevates
birdsong and dreams
thinner air
old love songs play
cog wheels grind
we stand on
top of the universe
as far as the eye can see
pure nothingness
but dreams twisting through time
serendipity steals your breath

the climb elevates
birdsong and dreams
thinner air
old love songs play
cog wheels grind
we stand on
top of the universe
as far as the eye can see
pure nothingness
but dreams twisting through time
serendipity steals your breath
Some writers stay
Some writers leave
Some writers linger
in spaces too long
Some letters need
to be sent
I lost my poem
left it underfoot
behind the eaves
it wandered off
without a sound
will you still love me
tomorrow
Fallen leaves on the terrace
autumnal threads woven
summer sun waning
deer in the grass
contemplating life
a coyote sprinting away
a cup of bourbon in hand
Don't believe the rumors
Online statistics
She's not what you think
A witch in disguise
Elegant soul
With deep sea eyes
She'll steal your soul
While you're not looking
Scrolling aimlessly by
stepping out
of my comfort zone
sending friend requests
accepting new followers
an out of body experience
The words still
hang in the air
all the poems left unsaid
and unfinished
I still see your smile
lingering in monochrome
lost to the heavens
lonesome
in my heart
drops of jupiter
tumbling
among dreams
the first star
I see tonight
constellations
distant planets
perseid meteors
and falling stars
bring me peace
wherever you roam
margin notes in your hands
hopes and dreams
tucked away
for a rainy day
I am greedy
with my words
impatient
to be heard
in the silence
of heartbeats
back to the grind
unthinking
holding hands
life continues
in dark spaces
a box full of tokens unsewn buttons
stamps without glue
unlimited seals
what to do
what to do

Thank you #penpalpoets I am being spoiled 😍
Bus Tokens
rolling around my pocket
trips that have yet to be taken
like pennies that are out of pocket
outlived their youth
the train still runs
the elevated line
union station divine
the tokens are now fashioned into a bracelet on my wrist
for when I'm no longer of use
I would build a pyre
fill it with your bones
no need for forgiveness
pray for salvation
under my thumbs
A lovely surprise this morning. Thank you, PenPal Poets, for choosing Unfinished as today’s featured poem. It’s especially gratifying to see these rather personal reflections on books, persistence, and the changing nature of time given a little corner of their own.
