Tree of Peace enveloping the family, is a Haudenosaunee symbol of how nations were united & brought together for collective safety, protection, peace, comfort, & renewal; 5. Cedar branch with 7 sub branches above the family, is sacred medicine representing healing, passing into the spirit world, & the 7 Sacred Teachings; 6. Circle above the cedar branch represents cosmic symbolism of the sun, moon, stars, & planets with the north star prominent; 7. In this circle is a The Métis Sash on the left thats interwoven representing interconnectedness; 8. In the middle of the circle beside The Métis Sash is The Eagle Feather representing The Creator's spirit present among us as it points up like one holds an eagle feather pointed upwards when speaking Truth; 8. On the right of The Eagle Feather is an Inuit inukshuk as a navigational guide. This entire scene is enveloped in layers or orange & white circles, as if enveloping the Indigenous Family & Survivors in solace, protection, & healing.

Today is #OrangeShirtDay and today, I wore orange for my grandpa who survived the violence of the Residential Indian Boarding Schools. For my grandma, who my grandpa met while attending high school at the Chilocco Indian School, for my mom and her silbings who also attended Chilocco.
