Will be kind of interesting how it will develop. Noteworthy is, that not positive Indian Ocean developed before the Indian Ocean basin more goes into a warming phase.

shows the SST anomaly some 5 days ago where the Atlantic and Indian Ocean had been cooler. El Ninos had been increasingly synchronizing with positive Indian Ocean dipoles which then lead in the decay phase to the Indian Ocean basin more turning hot. This time the system just skipped the positive Indian Ocean dipole and directly went into the warming mode. Weak winds should in both ocean basins the main driver. In the tropical Atlantic the Atlantic Nina switches maybe now into an Atlantic Nino. This would imply that also eastward moving Kelvin waves are involved - internal ocean waves which shift the thermocline to deeper depths in the east allowing warm subsurface water to move east from the west. In 2023/24 the tropical oceans went into a hot state during December lasting till April. This time it seems to start months earlier driven by weaker winds over these areas - main driver for tropical oceans running hot besides cloud declines due to changing water temperatures and SST patterns. I also added the newest global oceans sea surface temperature graph - another jump another drop right after - wonder what causes these jumps which seem to be an artifact of measurement as they occur quite often - peaks up, peaks down...The last 5 days the Indian Ocean and Atlantic Ocean warmed over their area - the Atlantic mostly in the tropics and South Atlantic while the Indian Ocean over most of its area.The SST temperature graph made another jump and dropped right afterwards remaining at record levels.
