Buying a third T-plate before you have run the one on the car with a screw left out is backwards. Screw count changes the effective flex of a plate you already own, for free, between heats. Does anyone actually tune that way, or do we all just buy plates?

Do you maintain on a schedule or when something breaks? I say schedule and then do neither until a bearing starts screaming. Does anyone genuinely track nights run on their diff and their bearings, or are most of us running things until they stop?

You pull a set after three nights and one rear is visibly more worn than the other. Your club runs one direction all night, so one side has been doing the work. Beginners bin the set when one side goes. Fast drivers swap the pair left to right at the halfway point.

Most setup sheets are fiction. People write down what they intended to run, not what was actually on the car when it went fast. If yours was filled in before the heat rather than after it, that is a plan, not a record. Fill it in on the way back to the pits.

You have rebuilt the ball diff twice this season and it is slipping again by the third heat. A ball diff is faster if you maintain it and slower if you do not. Which one is honest for how much you actually race.

You are buying pre-mounted sets and binning them the moment the diameter drops. A truer lets you cut cheap rubber to the diameter you want and match a pair properly. Beginners take whatever diameter arrives in the bag. Racers pick a number and hold it all season.

Front tires. Do you genuinely change them, or is your whole tire program a rear tire program? I have a drawer of rears in four compounds and one bag of fronts I have been running since spring. Does anyone treat the front as a tuning tool rather than a consumable?

You bought the MA-020 to drift and your club runs grip, so now you want to race it. Same chassis, almost nothing else carries over. Tires, diffs, ride height and gyro, drift setup converted to a grip setup.

You bought a fresh spec motor for race night and fitted it that morning. It will be slower than the one you took out. A brushed comm needs run time to bed the brushes in properly. Beginners fit a new motor and race it. Experienced racers break it in the week before.

Almost all of your practice happens on the freshest pack of the night, and every race finishes on the tail end of one. That gap is why practice pace does not show up in the main. Beginners practice on full power. Fast drivers practice on the power they will have on lap six.

You bought the MR-04 for the rotation and now you cannot get through a lap without catching it twice. That is a spring and T-plate combination before it is a driving problem. Baseline numbers for the narrow chassis.

You swapped knuckles, the car feels different, and you have no number to write down. A 1/28 setup board with camber and toe gauges is the cheapest way to stop guessing. Beginners judge camber by eye against the pit table. Racers get a figure and can put it back.

Not the expensive stuff. What is the cheapest thing in your pit box that earns its place every single night? Mine is a three dollar pair of curved tweezers for getting screws back out of the chassis. Every racer has one and nobody ever recommends it.

Your club runs on gym carpet, not RCP, the rears hook up fine and the fronts never come in. Most compound charts quietly assume RCP. What works on non-RCP carpet, front and rear, and which numbers to ignore.

The gyro saves you in left handers and fights you out of rights. That asymmetry is mounting, not gain. A gyro sitting on an uneven tape stack reads part of the roll as yaw. Beginners wind the gain down until it stops annoying them. Experienced racers re-seat it flat first.

Question about your head, not your car. After a bad heat, is your next one usually worse? Mine used to be, every single time, and no setup change fixed it. Curious what people actually do between heats to reset, or whether you write the night off.

You picked up an MR-03 ReadySet and every thread hands you a different shopping list. The list matters less than the order you buy in. Bearings and tires before anything with a motor in it. Fifty dollars, in sequence.

You need three tenths of spacing on the rear axle and you are stacking whatever washers are in the parts drawer. A labelled 0.1 and 0.2mm shim set costs less than a pinion. Beginners shim with what is nearby. Racers shim to a number they can write down and repeat.

Is the chassis you would recommend to a new racer the same one you actually race? Mine is not. I tell people to buy what the club runs, then I go and race the thing I already owned. Anyone else giving advice they do not follow?

You have topped out in brushed and brushless looks like the next step. It is not one purchase. Motor, ESC and a pack that can feed it, or you have spent the money and built a slower car. What the whole conversion costs.
