I know it's not Mermay, but I made some mermaid character designs for a bakatako prompt a while back! 🌊

#ocart #art #mermaid #merfolk #illustration #digitalillustration #ocsky #artsky

Full body rough character design illustrations of two mermaids. The top one is a thinner mermaid with a sharper, lankier dark blue tail. The tail has white spots and a white frill at the end. The humanoid half of the mermaid has light blue-green skin, light blue-and-yellow fins for ears, and cerulean blue long hair tied with a pearl-bead tie towards the end. Her eyes are large and shoujo-like, with yellow scleras and magenta irises. She holds one arm behind her head, brushing her hair back, and in the other she holds a spear with a spiraling-coral tip. She wears light green seaweed hand wraps, and a body rap with a black brassiere-style top and a black-blue skirt with a white ruffle up front. The skirt has pearl beads at the waist.

The second mermaid is chubbier, with a more rounded magenta tail with multicolor scales. The fin of her tail is white and scalopped. Her purple-magenta tail is flecked with blue, pink, orange and yellow scales that look like sparkles. The humanoid half has light pink skin with long, curly deep purple hair. She has ear fins that are magenta, team and orange. Her hands are extended out, and she beams. Her eyes are big and shoujo-like, with off-white scleras and teal irises. She wears a strapless scallop-shape white top.

Behind them is a blue ocean background with a colorful coral reef at the bottom, with rocks and seaweed flitting in the sea bubbles. There's a white border on top and bottom of the illustration. My art tag draconicheart-art is at the bottom.

Hi hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been posting much, I'm in my conceptual merfolk era so I haven't finished proper drawings in a while. Still, please check out these mermaids and mermen. Wow I can't figure out the image formatting at all!

🧜‍♂️ Ferromagnetism chapter 21: Heat

archiveofourown.org/works/765909...

Kouta silently regards Hitoshi and Eri, still scowling, but it seems like that’s just his face, so Hitoshi doesn’t take it personally. Eri does—she calls him out on it. He averts his gaze again and crosses his arms, muttering, “I’ve just never seen mers like you.” He glances at Hitoshi. “You’re a siren, right?”
“Yes.”
“That’s… cool or whatever.”
“Do you know what my magic does?” Eri asks.
Kouta shakes his head.
“Healing.”
His eyes go wide again, but he doesn’t blush this time. “Really?”
“Do you want a demonstration?”
“What? I don’t have any wounds to heal.”
“I could give you one.”
