»The United Nations has voted to adopt a resolution for the world to formally phase out the traditional #Mercator map of the globe in favour of one that more accurately displays Africa’s size.« buff.ly/PGaK5mo

What would be the business justification for making Africa larger than Greenland?

It's not like the US cared...

On Friday, the UN General Assembly voted to encourage the use of equal-area #maps - such as the #EqualEarth projection - in certain situations over the #Mercator projection map. 🌎

🌍 What’s wrong with the world map?

The #UN General Assembly decided to adopt the Equal Earth projection instead of the former #Mercator map.

Why is everyone so excited about static maps, while 99% of map uses are on an interactive device? #mercator
