Our volunteers don't see land boundaries when it comes to tackling #litter, so neither should we.

Everyone is responsible for keeping Wales clean and safe 💚

I cant remember where i heard it but folks that create the specialty trashcans to keep nusance species out of the bins and humans being related said...."the struggle with making it bear proof is that people will see a basic deturant as a inconvenience"

The litter fraud: to boost profits, brands replace pure clay with cheap calcium bentonite that cannot swell. In factories, they spray it with a soda ash solution or artificial binders to create a temporary, fake clumping illusion that collapses.

#usa #cat #litter

Wyoming holds the world's largest deposits of high-quality sodium bentonite, often called "Wyoming clay." This raw purity is what drove the massive success of the very first clumping cat litters back in the 1990s.

#usa #cat #litter

In the 1990s, cat litter was mostly made from natural sodium bentonite, mainly sourced directly from Wyoming.

#litter #cat

To clump, bentonite grains must touch. When saturated with cheap baking soda, the clay becomes isolated and cannot bond. As a result, the clumps break apart and crumble when scooped.

#litter #cat

Low-end bentonite litter is often mixed with baking soda or chemical additives to mask its poor absorption capacity, which alters its natural clumping properties.

Litters sometimes use poor-quality mineral fillers or fine powdered baking soda that forms sticky sludge or releases dust that irritates a cat's respiratory tract when they scratch.

We're going to #litter ourselves into extinction - my letter in today's Metro:
