"Bunt im Dreieck" (Variegation in the Triangle / Colorful in the Triangle), an abstract geometric artwork painted by Wassily Kandinsky in 1927.

Produced during his influential tenure at the Bauhaus School in Germany, this masterwork beautifully demonstrates Kandinsky's deep exploration of geometric relationships, color theory, and spirituality. The piece centers around a complex large triangle filled with highly organized intersections of smaller circles, vibrant color segments, and precise lines resting against a soft, atmospheric green background.

Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid, Spain

"Frei" (Free), an influential oil-on-paperboard piece created in 1927 by the pioneering Russian abstract artist Wassily Kandinsky.

Key Aspects of the Artwork
The Bauhaus Era: Painted while Kandinsky was teaching at the famous Bauhaus school in Germany. During this phase, his art shifted away from loose, chaotic expressions toward highly disciplined geometric compositions.
Symbolism of Shapes: The artwork utilizes geometric elements—triangles, circles, segments, and intersecting lines—superimposed against a textured green background to generate a powerful sense of inner rhythm, weightless movement, and balance.

Wassily Kandinsky's 1927 painting Aufleuchten ("Light Up")

About the Artwork
The Bauhaus Era: This masterpiece belongs to Kandinsky's famous Bauhaus period. During this time, his style shifted from organic, loose abstraction toward structured, geometric harmony.
Visual Elements: The piece juxtaposes sharp linear grids and intersecting triangles against a softer, biomorphic green cloud holding a vivid red disk.
Misattributions: It is frequently misattributed to Joan Miró on social media platforms due to the whimsical, organic qualities of the floating shapes.
