A whimsical black cat emerges from loose, expressive washes of black and gray ink on warm, lightly textured paper. The cat occupies the upper-right and central portion of the composition, its body loosely suggested by dense pools, feathered edges, splatters, and energetic brushwork rather than precise outlines. Two enormous pale eyes dominate its dark face, each framed by irregular black strokes that give the cat an alert, slightly mischievous expression. Long whiskers shoot outward in sweeping lines across the otherwise open background. Pointed ears dissolve into smoky gray washes above the head, while the narrow body trails downward into softer, increasingly abstract marks. Near the bottom, the cat’s tail curls into a broad circular flourish of watery ink and dry-brush strokes. Much of the left side remains intentionally empty, emphasizing the spontaneous asymmetry of the composition. In the lower-left corner, a square red seal provides the only strong color, containing a tiny stylized cat wearing a pointed wizard hat alongside Japanese characters. Scattered droplets, blurred washes, and visible brush textures give the image the appearance of an expressive sumi-e ink painting.
