I've been waiting for paint to arrive for the ongoing projects, so I decided to pop an #hoscale autorack on the bench and have a go at it. Still work in progress, but the graffiti is pretty much done. Weathering next.

On Sunday, September 27, 2026, SP 2400 and 2409 were at the Tri-City Society of Model Engineers (TCSME) model railroad club in the historic Niles depot in Fremont, CA.

On Sunday, September 27, 2026, SP 2400 and 2409 were in the siding at "Pleasanton" being passed by an ACE train at the Tri-City Society of Model Engineers (TCSME) model railroad club in the historic Niles depot in Fremont, CA. The real SP 2400 was an ALCo C-415, SP Class AS415-1. Reportedly: it was built in 1966 builder's number 3458-1. Midway through one project, the base for the next one arrives - a pair of #hoscale Intermountain reefers. I've been after one of these for a while, and managed to get both at a bargain price on ebay.

3D printing is great but we still do it the old-fashioned way: hand-carved in clay, molded & cast in our own workshop.
Slower, yes. But it gives our models something rare: a truly handmade and unique origin.

I've started work on another KING157 boxcar in #hoscale. A westbound train powered by a Kraus-Maffei and a couple of RSD-5s was at Salmonella on the California Central Model Railroad Club (CCMRC) in the historic Agnew depot in Santa Clara, CA, during a DC run on Saturday, September 19, 2026. The real Southern Pacific (SP) 9016 was a Kraus-Maffei, ML-4000, SP Class DF-801. Reportedly: it became SP Class KF636-1 and SP 9119. It was built in 1964, construction number 19112. It was retired in 1967 and scrapped. My model of SP 9016 is an Overland brass model.

Two Union Pacific (UP) ALCo RS-27s headed towards Weed on a westbound train on Saturday, Sep. 5, 2026, at the California Central Model Railroad Club (CCMRC) in the historic Agnew depot in Santa Clara, CA. These are Proto 2000 models. The real UP 676 was an ALCo RS-27. Reportedly it was built in 1959 as ALCo demonstrator 640-3 builder's number 83557. UP sold it in 1971.
