Bartlemas Chapel was founded 900 years ago this year by Henry I, as part of a hospital for 12 lepers. It was rebuilt in 1329. Once located well outside Oxfordโ€™s city walls, the chapel is now at the end of an unassuming path off the eclectic Cowley Road.
I visited last weekend for #HeritageOpenDays

Exterior of Bartlemas chapel (east end) with two large manicured topiary bushes Interior of Bartlemas chapel - which is still used for occasional services and concerts. Hard to believe that in the late 1800s it was used as a cattle shed!
