Run, Everleigh Banks, run! I'm screaming that with every detail of what she's escaping is revealed. Yes, she's already on the run, but geez, what a piece of 💩 is that "man" she's leaving. Domestic violence, including gaslighting, isolation, and verbal and physical abuse, throughout her marriage are shown in little flashbacks. On top of that, Christopher is a.... I'm not going to finish that as it might give away too much.

Everleigh, also known as Eden Coles as she tries to establish a new life, has been nothing more than a pawn throughout much of her life, be it her egg donor or the monster often referred to as her husband. I admire her strength to run and start anew. Regardless of what she's leaving behind, sometimes the best answer is to save yourself first.

For as dark as this gets, it has sweet and loving moments that make it easy to enjoy. I love how Cassidy, Maverick, and other residents of Hawkthorpe welcome her with open arms, a hot meal, and a place to lay her weary body. They are a wonderful found family that she needs to help her heal and move forward.

Of course, the attraction to Leo and Sterling Vale and Fletcher Wright helps even more. 🤭 They are all broken in their own ways, be it childhood trauma, loss of a loved one, or the sense of failure from a mission gone sideways. I love how the fueling of the chemistry between Everleigh and the three men allows them to see some of their truths and emerge on the other side stronger.

The drama is a little overdone on an occasion or two, whether that is due to the writing, the narration, or a bit of both, I can't say for sure, but I did tune out that part a wee bit.

As mentioned, I listened to the audio book. The narrators, Jake and Bridget Bordeaux, are good. There isn't much difference between the male voices, which makes it hard to keep track sometimes. That and my other comments above are my on…

I L♡VE their initial encounter! The way Cash Noire is left confounded is absolutely magnificent! It's only when the final credits are listed that I am able to stop. I mean it. I devoured this and want to do it again!

Cash has definitely met his match when it comes to Sylvie "Sly" Palmer. The way she shoots him down is comical and has him panting for more. Watching this relationship grow is so much fun.

There are so many things that I love about this, but one of my absolute favorites is the text threads. Be it between Sylvie and her mom, the Noire brothers, or the expanded Noire family, they are awesome! The witty banter, lighthearted teasing, and abundance of love have me 🫠 and 🤭 (melty and giggling).

This is my second book from Brandy. In the first book, I took a few stops to get my bearings when it came to KORT, the Noire family, and all things related because the two series are connected, but I was able to enjoy it without additional reading. I think this can also be read as a standalone with the same caveats if you are new to the series.

I listened to the audio book. The narrators, Samantha Brentmoor and Connor Crais, are marvelous in duet. They made this unputdownable read an unputdownable listen. 🎧💛🎧

There are some darkish moments. After some of the scenes in earlier books, I'm glad that BLW doesn't try to one up herself. That said, the darkness here, flashbacks aside, is mainly around mental health concerns. I like how the different incidents are handled.

There are several things that I love, including but not limited to the chocolate stashes that get plundered, Twitch's special piercing, the found family and love they all have for each other, and the new friendship Milly makes. This is definitely a story I can revisit.

I think we need McDaddy's story. I mean, he already has a nickname. 🤭

The peek into what's possibly to come for Rage looks interesting. I'm looking forward to it.

Emilio Jacob Ricci, known as Jacob to those close to him, comes across as tough but lost. He's been struggling after the death of someone he loved. When he takes over for his ailing father, he gets a marriage thrown at him. I like how he accepts the new arrangement as his fate, but I don't like how he handles things with his new bride. Thankfully, Brenna is on it and is determined to turn things around. (Hint: her determination pays off.) 😉

Even though I saw the twist coming, it still seems crazy. What comes next are the things triggers are made from, so be warned. That said, I approve of Jacob's justice.

To get something that better resembles an HEA, I strongly recommend the bonus epilogue. It's a sizzling 🌶 evening with something sweet that made me happy that I found and read it. 👑

I read along with the audio book. The narrators, Walker Williams and Eve Cain, do a good job.

A one night stand oopsie? He's suing her? Hot cowboy John "Fitz" Fitzgerald and city girl Tessa "Duchess" Demille start off fun with some obvious baggage.

I love the gentle build after that very memorable, highly combustible first night and relatively low angst, at least between Tessa and Fitz. They have awkward times that are broken up between the sizzle that won't fizzle, tenderness, and quiet, funny moments. The realism of the story really appeals to me.

We get to see them granny panties and all. I love how, after a small amount of time to adjust to their new reality, they embrace their pending parenthood and talk about what that looks like. Their personal struggles and how that influences some of their decisions making is also included.

As much as I enjoy her family, someone needs to educate Grandma Ann on what is considered a gift, because that ranch doesn't qualify. 😂 Man, oh man, is that place the epitome of a fixer upper!

While not a lot of emphasis is put on some of these, I love the acknowledgement of real society issues that are occurring, such as ICE raids and the impact on documented / legal migrant workers, droughts and water shortages, Big Ag versus small farmers, and more. These little touches make this feel even more realistic.

I listened to the audio book. The narrators, Lance Greenfield and Kirsten Leigh, are good picks and easy to listen to. 🎧🧡🎧
