For #ThickTrunkTuesday, a weathered snag I encountered yesterday. It is hollow. The open side reveals a jumble of rotted wood and pine needles, showing the result of decay, plus evidence of various animals and birds using the space.

I came across this cross section of a ponderosa pine yesterday. It was part of a tree that was leaning towards a power line, and was cut by a maintenance crew. I like the way the growth rings show up so clearly.
