@cheekighost.bsky.social10. Green Ribbon - IYKYK in regards to this short horror story. I added a twist to this: what if Jenny was looking forward to this? What if it wasn't the end for her but a new beginning? So while she's broken, she's free?
@blackorchardgames.comAnother family, another highway, another Stop nobody planned to make. THE HIDDEN: AMERICA is built from journeys exactly like this one.

@liminalfarmstead.bsky.socialScience fiction/future folk horror? I remember watching this music video for the first time and being floored. Certain scenes look like book covers from 70's paperbacks. I love it.

Kill List. Debt, marriage problems and a contract that seems too good to be true
Ben Wheatley's Kill List is one of the great examples of folk horror hiding inside another genre
And one hell of a final act

@blackorchardgames.comA street corner conversation that could be about anything, or about everything. THE HIDDEN: AMERICA is folk horror hidden in plain, ordinary Americana.
@tonydunnell.bsky.socialIf you're a #folkhorror fan, watch Penda's Fen (1974), a strange but brilliant British #TV play that explores English identity, homosexual awakenings, pagan history and modern authority. Can see its influence on directors like Ben Wheatley, Robert Eggers and Ari Aster.
@erlikgame.bsky.socialERLIK just passed 100 wishlists, and 647 people have played the free demo. Small numbers, but every one of them is someone who walked the steppe with a Kam. Thank you.
The demo stays up through Steam Next Fest, Oct 19-26.

@cheekighost.bsky.social9. Bad Omen - In Mexican culture, owls are harbingers of death or disguised brujas. I will say that I don't like the stigmas of certain animals being tied to bad luck or bad omens. They're animals and should not be slaughtered due to superstition. So I drew a normal owl.
@blackorchardgames.comBacks turned to the camera, faces turned to the work. THE HIDDEN: AMERICA is 1930s America the way it actually looked — folklore is what happened after hours.
