Congrats to all the semifinalist and second-rounders in Austin Film Fest. Welcome to the family! Here is page one of my second rounder from last year. Which seeded a feature being prepped for next year’s event.

Tori realising the person who should have helped was her - as she and Crow find themselves trapped in a caravan about to go no place good in my Australian thriller FAR AS THE CROW FLIES. Wolf Creek meets The Breakfast Club.

#scriptsky #FirstPageFriday #FunPageFriday

INT. WHITE CARAVAN - MINI-GALLEY - DAY
Ragged breathing inside. Silence outside.
Tori peeks out around the counter to see Crow, sprawled on
the floor between the beds. Shades on askew. Face bloody.

TORI
Crow?

No answer. She heads into the...

SLEEPING AREA - CONTINUOUS
Crouches beside Crow, who groans and stirs. Tori keeps her
voice low.

TORI
You ok? Sorry. Stupid question.
Here. Let me -

She reaches for Crow’s shades. Crow raises a hand and shoves
hers away.

Tori reaches for her phone. Stupid. It’s not there. Whispers -

TORI
Where’s your phone?

Still dazed, Crow concentrates. Winces, reaches into... an
empty pocket. Shakes their head. That hurts too.

TORI
Fuck.

She listens at the door. Lifts the latch and pushes. Nothing.
She shoves it. Still nothing. Winds up for a body slam...

CROW
You’ll hurt yourself.

She SLAMS into the door anyway. Crow’s right. She YELLS, loud
as she can, beating on the door as, unnaturally calm, Crow
watches from the floor.

TORI
Help! Let us out!
(to Crow)
C’mon - shout! We need help.

CROW
What help? There’s no help.

Defeated, Tori slumps against the door.

TORI
There was me. I should’ve helped.A rusty-brown broken feather the colour of dried blood against a pale blue background.

SInce this silly thing caught some good fortune this week, I'll flog it again for #FirstPageFriday.

THREE WISE MEN -- Three bumbling buddies lost in the Mexican desert on Christmas Eve team to help a pregnant young woman trying to hike to Texas before she gives birth in the wilderness.

A #firstpagefriday from myself... A blissful couple pick up more than they bargained for on the road:

Carjacked at gunpoint, Sarah's fiancé is taken. But what she doesn't know is that the kidnapping is a lie. Her fiancé is a lie.

First page of my new pilot spec, KENTMORE, for #FirstPageFriday. It's still in very rough form...

>_COLD OPEN_<

INT. RESIDUAL SUGAR - DAY

Residual Sugar is a mid-scale wine bar, the kind of place that locals hang out and wine industry people call a second home.

Behind the bar is LAUREN GALLAGHER (33), short hair, tattoos, a gorgeous smile she generally withholds. She's cleaning stemware.

Wiping down tables nearby is VAL GARCIA (22), Latina, her black hair pulled back into a high ponytail. She's focused.

The bell above the door rings and in walks JAKE WALTERMEYER (29), handsome, strong jaw, great hair, and a friendly smile. Lauren looks up, then back to what she's doing.

LAUREN
Hey, New Guy. Back so soon?

Jake sits at a stool in front of Lauren, who smiles without looking up at him.

JAKE
Got any more of that white wine from last night? Riddling?

Lauren looks down near her feet at a refrigerator. She grabs a bottle, then a glass, and pours Jake a glass of Riesling.

He takes the glass and sips, as the bell above the door rings once more. A TOURIST COUPLE walks in. Looking up, Lauren smiles at them, but there is something forced about it.

LAUREN
Welcome in! What can I getcha?

TOURIST MAN
What's the oldest vintage of Kentmore Estates you have by the glass?

Lauren gives an exaggerated pout.

LAUREN
Sorry, we only serve fine wine.

Jake almost chokes on his sip, the tourists look confused. Lauren continues before they can respond.

A first draft first page for #FirstPageFriday! From my horror feature work-in-progress CONFINEMENT. I love where Act III in this is going, I just need to get all the pages in between written so I can get there! #ScriptSky

OVER BLACK
Thump thump. Thump thump. Thump thump.
A tiny, human heartbeat. It gets bigger.
And faster.
And faster.
Until it’s drowned out by the sound of someone breathing. Ragged. Desperate. Terrified.
Slowly fade up on:
EXT. FLORIDA BACKWOODS - NIGHT
A dark night with no moon and a WOMAN is crashing through the dense undergrowth.
Her hair, damp with sweat, tangles on branches. Thorns tear at her skin and vines catch her bare feet.
She is HEAVILY PREGNANT.
She looks behind, terrified of an unseen pursuer, except for their BOOTS - black and heavy - are coming down hard on top of the same undergrowth that is slowing her down.
Finally, up ahead of her, she can see HEADLIGHTS - a road! She speeds up, stumbles, but keeps going on hands and knees until she BREAKS THROUGH THE BRUSH to the edge of the asphalt.
She can see another car approaching, still a long way off. She struggles to her feet, clutching her swollen belly. She opens her mouth to scream for help when--
A PAIR OF LARGE HANDS IN LEATHER WORK GLOVES wrap around her mouth and her waist and drag her, kicking and screaming BACK INTO THE DARKNESS.
The car speeds by, seeing nothing.
EXT. I-10 EAST OF TALLAHASSE - DAY
A sedan with Ohio plates speeds along the highway, roof paint peeling under a beating sun.

We've been reading this in 10 page chunks with the writer's group and it's been so much fun. Just wait until things get really steamy in the coming weeks 😉 #Scriptsky #FirstPageFriday

Here's a bit of a different #FirstPageFriday page. This is from the journal entries that my players can find tonight in our role-playing game when exploring the crypt.
#Scriptsky

A page from a journal for my role-playing game tonight. The text reads:

5/08/70
We’re flying out to Iraq tomorrow morning. I am eagerly awaiting this expedition!

5/12/70
We have successfully landed in Baghdad after a few delays. Fighting in the region meant that we had to remain in Istanbul for an additional day. Not that I minded! Istanbul is an amazing city! I could have easily spent weeks there exploring its art and culture.
[Written in pencil:] Ha! If only I had stayed in Istanbul and missed this damned expedition!

5/12/70
I have arrived in Baghdad. The city itself is beautiful. Looks like it’s been spared from the fighting. We will have the day to get acclimated here and then the expedition commences tomorrow. We lost the extra day because of the layover.

6:45pm
There was a letter slid under my door when I arrived back at the hotel from dinner. How very ominous! It is a warning regarding tomorrow’s expedition. It claims there is a conspirator among us that seeks to sabotage the entire group. The signature is a symbol which I will try to replicate here. I do not know any meaning behind this symbol, but I will research it when I get back to London.

Here is the first page of THE IRREGULARS for #FirstPageFriday! I got this out to tinker with it a couple weeks ago and haven't had time since. I was thinking: do I need to have more of a grabby prologue/teaser scene first instead?🤔
#Scriptsky

The first page to the script THE IRREGULARS.

NT. BEDROOM - DAY
DAD (MID 40's, BOOKWORM, GLASSES AND THINNING HAIR) is packing
his suitcase.
He picks up a child's drawing: a man and a little girl holding
hands. "Daddy's Girl" written in crayon.
His smiles briefly, then remembers. It's a hard day when a
family falls apart. He tucks the drawing in his valise.
He examines one last item: a mug emblazoned with 'Starman'
and a distinctive STAR EMBLEM on the mug.
MOM (EARLY 40's, AGING BETTER THAN HER HUSBAND) appears in
the doorway. She's doing her best to keep it together.
MOM
Cab's here.
The mood is far from cordial. He nods, puts down the mug.
DAD
Where's Holly? I want to say good--
MOM
Outside.
EXT. FIELD BESIDE THE HOUSE - DAY
HOLLY HALEY (15) stands with her back to her world falling
apart and basks in the afternoon sun. She wears a sleek
superhero costume that today doubles as a suit of armor:
'Daddy's Girl' is losing her father.
HOLLY
C'mon. Heroes don't cry...
She sniffs back tears and wipes at her eyes. She types out
a quick text: 'Meet up at Tess's'.
WHOOSH! A gust of wind sends her black cape billowing.
THE FRONT PORCH
The Driver loads the suitcases into a yellow taxi and closes
the trunk. Her Dad turns to the field.
ON HOLLY
Earbuds in her ear, Holly changes her soundtrack to something
else: something exciting, something inspiring.

Here we are at the tail end of another week which means it's once again time to strut your stuff and show off your efforts to the Universe. #FirstPageFriday! Or #FunPageFriday if your not into the whole opening scene thing. Doesn't have to be perfect-- it just needs to be human made.

First Page Friday / Fun Page Friday

THE LONG SHOT

Two brothers, on the run from a Canadian mobster, take the reins in New York gangster Frankie Yale’s audacious plan to fix the 1924 King's Plate. Based on a true story... sort of.

#ScriptSky #fea #IP #ISA #firstpagefriday #funpagefriday

INT. STABLES - DAY
Maggie follows a jittery Jack through the stables. He directs her to a stool next to Maternal Pride's stall.
JACK
Wait here a minute.
Billy wears Harry's tiny silks. They're tighter than a sausage skin. Billy pulls at the pant's crotch.
BILLY
I can't feel my balls.
The sound of Cajun Prince's skipping hooves on the ground fills the air. It's followed by a banshee's HOWL.
MAGGIE (O.S.)
What in the flyin' FOOK?
Jack and Billy rush to Maternal Pride's stall. Maggie, mouth agape, points at Cajun Prince.
JACK
You want the whole story or the Reader's Digest version?
MAGGIE
I'm after the version that tells me why Frankie Yale's plungin' a fortune on a nag that's got the twinkle-toes!
JACK
I know it looks bad --
MAGGIE
Bad don’t even touch the sides! This is a fookin' disaster!
Maggie stares at Billy in Harry's small silks.
MAGGIE
And what do we have here? A wee fairy gettin' in on the craic?
Maggie notices a pair of feet under a horse blanket.
MAGGIE
Should I even ask?
She lifts the blanket and sees the passed out jockey.

#FirstPageFriday

I’ve been known to dabble in the snark and honkers, but I can and will scribble something serious when the mood sneak attacks.

QUEEN OF THE SKY is probably the finished script I’m most proud of.

@leahelizabethevans.bsky.socialSep 11, 2026, 1:34 PM

I’m going to share another first for #FirstPageFriday and I hope #scriptsky will be forgiving. 🤞

Got started screenwriting doing 24 hour sequels and jukebox musicals (Avril Lavigne Batman, anyone?).

Shockingly a producer reached out. That night I wrote a short for them - and they made it!!

@jc-blair.bsky.socialSep 11, 2026, 1:15 PM

#firstpagefriday, #scriptsky

My first, first page post! The opening of my social-issue monster-horror TV pilot (that's a mouthful) Streetcleaner.

As the destitute and desperate get their heads down for the night, something worse than the cold is coming for them...

@aggiebrett.bsky.socialSep 11, 2026, 1:06 PM

#FirstPageFriday yet again, you foul miscreants— time to share a page from whatever you’re working on or proud of or plausibly denying any connection to. Maybe Spielberg reads it and screams “THATS IT! THATS MY NEXT EPIC!”

In this current Reality, dumber things happen daily. #ScriptSky
