I've written eight novels since 2018. Every book has taught me something new about writing. What's one thing you've learned from pursuing a creative passion?

So the way I'm thinking about the elven duke family in Spirit's Blessing, I'm thinking they swear fealty to the queen specifically and not the crown. So after the first queen, almost every queen/ crown princess/princess consort has been approved by them.

My dark fantasy with body horror leanings: Titanfall

A city built on the corpse of a dead god, built on an economy revolving around harvesting that god corpse’s organs.

All that for 3 sentences, but so much fun. To create Old Dwarvish, I took inspo from the runic alphabet & Ogham (old Celtic writing) and then “simplified” that version for Standard Dwarvish.
I even did a test sentence (it’s phonetic).
Here’s a peek at my notes.

I just spent about 2 hours creating an old Dwarvish vs “modern” Dwarvish writing system based on the runic alphabet, all for a total of maybe 3 sentences at the end of a subchapter of book 2 that don’t even matter to the plot.
Anyway, here’s how you write “rune”

What’s that? It’s definitely NOT the sound of me bawling because I’m editing the one scene in Koltja’s Shadow that makes me cry every single time. 😭

Nope. Absolutely not.
