From the fundamentals class. Always beautiful to see how quickly you can get a class understanding the complex by explaining it simply.

Hubud? You bud, we’re talking bout the blade.
Dance sickle dance, dance sickle dance.

Paulus Hector Mair sickle work this evening. In the Crystal Palace class.

From Wrath to Comprehension.

Taking these wonderful folks through some Liechtenauer in the fundamentals class. Could not be prouder of them all.

Watching people grow in confidence. One of the best things.

This beautiful space.
Form work and warm up in the Crystal Palace class. Progressing the Achille Marozzo form, some Godinho. All in all awesome.

This month’s schedule.
Short version. Swords, sticks, shields, sabres you name it, taught in a wildly fun and safe environment, with the loveliest people you could be stabbed by.

A good day.
Sabre at Sword Saturday.

Frias Verdadera Destreza. Paulus Hector Mair and Joachim Meyer. And rolling for the soul.

#hema #londonlongswordacademy #davidrawlings #community #learnswordfighting

Achille Marozzo, but it’s never Marozzo, it’s Fiore dei Liberi, it’s Liechtenstauer through the eyes of Meyer, it’s Girard Thibault achieving the same against so many things. What did you say that meant the same thing?

Never gets old this feeling.

#hema #learnswordfighting #community #davidrawlings #londonlongswordacademy

Sabre from Simon de Frias, Verdadera Destreza with descriptions that were pretty damned vulgar.
Alongside that staff work from Paulus Hector Mair and Joachim Meyer, revising some old favourites to bring them up to date.

#hema #learnswordfighting #community #davidrawlings #londonlongswordacademy

An excellent blend of staff and sabres in the mixed weapons class at Crystal Palace!
Verdadera destreza sabre from Frias and a little George Silver thrown in. Staff from Paulus Hector Mair.

They are happy because they did the Tornada a few hundred years early. Vulgar and verdadera destreza meet in the I.33 sword and buckler class.
Awesome fun.

Polearms at Sword Saturday. Paulus Hector Mair and working through a fiddly fiddly play. 97% there I reckon and dead proud of everyone.

I kind of loved this warm up. From the Bethnal Green Longsword class. At Sword Saturday.
