@danmcaoa.bsky.socialAfter Don Walser retired and started collecting social security, he formed a country music band and captured Austin’s heart. A yodeler- the Pavarotti of the Plains. A kind man, I remember chatting with him as he bounced my two yr old daughter on his knee. #CountryRockSunday

@levin.bsky.socialThe Gene Clark documentary—The Byrd Who Flew Alone: The Triumphs and Tragedy of Gene Clark is now on YouTube (it’s been impossible to find). Would the good folks of #CountryRockSunday be interested in doing a discussion thread? I only watched the first minute or two and it seems promising.

@levin.bsky.socialQueer country artists and Black country artists are kicking ass especially right now. Country isn’t any one particular thing. Any of you want to keep up with the best of the new follow @countryuniverse.net (& if you want to nerd out about new and old follow #CountryRockSunday)

@mikewood73.bsky.socialThis 'lost' album by Country-Rock group The Marshall Tucker Band came out in 2003 & has now been remastered. It contains live recordings from 1974-76 previously unreleased. This tune is one of their best-loved fan favourites #CountryRockSunday #CountrySky

@atcl.bsky.socialI almost forgot about #CountryRockSunday!
And next on my chronological playlist is a monumental moment in alt-country, when a 21-year-old Harvard theology major named Gram Parsons started up a country band completely outside the Nashville system.
