Caldwell Vineyard Platinum Proprietary Red 2013, Napa Valley, California #AgedWineTuesday Inky in color with a short reddish rim. Not showing much age. Strong nose of red and black fruits with cedar, licorice, coffee, light earth, herbs, tobacco leaf, dark chocolates, eucalyptus and mediterranean spices. Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs. Dry and very fruity on the palate with blackberries, black plums, cooked cherries, cedar, licorice, light vanilla, tobacco, herbs, spices, light cola, chocolates and peppercorn. Long finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries. This gorgeous 13 year old Cabernet Franc based Bordeaux blend from Coombsville in Napa Valley is drinking at its peak now. Rich, extracted and 'in your face' kind of wine. Nicely balanced and very complex. The Carmenere is very dominant right now, and it feels more like a Napa Merlot. Will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 to 7 years. Delicious right out of the bottle, and even better after 45 minutes of airtime. A great sipping wine that will also pair nicely with food. A blend of 51% Cabernet Franc, 32% Carmenere, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Merlot. Aged in all new French oak barrels. A tiny production of 1,044 bottles. 15% alcohol by volume. 93 points. $260.

Fruity nose of blue and black fruits with light cedar, earth, herbs, milk chocolates and black pepper. Full-bodied and elegant with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with black plums, cooked cherries, blackberries, cedar, licorice, chocolates, spices, coffee, light earth, herbs, eucalyptus and tobacco leaf. Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries. This is a delicious Merlot from Oakville in Napa valley. Nicely balanced and complex, soft and elegant. Still young, but already enjoyable even by itself. Will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years. Showing good potential to become a 94+ point wine. Alcohol is nicely integrated already, smooth and engaging. I had the 2021 vintage not too long ago, and it is very consistent. Good by itself as a sipping wine, and will also pair nicely with food. A blend of 90% Merlot with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in (50% new) French Oak barrels. 14.9% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $90.

Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 1994, Pauillac, France #AgedWineTuesday Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish/ brick rim. Medium plus in body with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with a beautiful nose. Showing black plums, black currants, cedar, dried figs, licorice, dark chocolates, earth, rhubarb, tobacco leaf, light black tea and black pepper. Long finish with soft tannins and tangy cherries. This 32 year old Pauillac is still drinking beautifully, but a bit past its prime. Rich and elegant. Very complex and spicy. This Second Growth Bordeaux needed 5 hours to open up properly, and was not that special right out of the bottle. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel, and still showing enough fruits to balance the earth notes. Robert Parker 91 points. Good by itself as a sipping wine, and with food. A blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 8% Petit Verdot. 12.5% alcohol by volume. 93 points. $200.

At the recent Fox Creek Wines museum tasting the JSM range was outstanding-2006,(fully mature) 2013 (aging gracefully) & 2017 (still youthful & tight) they are a blend of #shiraz, #CabernetSauvignon #cabernetfranc. All powering along with the 2017 being TRULY AWESOME & a great food wine.

Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries. This 9 year old Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend from Napa Valley is still drinking very nicely. Rich and fruit forward. Elegant and nicely balanced, with a nice mouthfeel. Ready to drink right out of the bottle, tangy and spicy. Peaking now, and will continue to drink nicely in the next few years. Easy drinking and good by itself as a sipping wine. A good party wine too. 14.5% alcohol by volume. 91 points. $60.

Dry on the palate with plums, currants, sweet cherries, light cedar, earth, herbs, chocolates, black tea and peppercorn. Long finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries. This is a very young Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Needs more bottle time to mature properly, but already enjoyable, even by itself. Will continue to age nicely in the next 15 to 20 years. Rich and fruit forward, elegant and smooth. Complex and interesting, spicy and entertaining. A great sipping wine that also paired nicely with my steak. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged in (60% new) French oak barrels for 23 months. A tiny production of only 1,500 bottles. 14.5% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $250.

Chewy, and a great sipping wine, that will also pair nicely with a big piece of steak. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged in all new French oak barrels for 12 months. 14.9% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $145.

Nalle Winery Dry Creek Cabernet Sauvignon 2015, California Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim. Pretty nose of red and blue fruits with light cedar, chocolates, herbs, spices, earth, green beans, light cloves, light vegetables, tobacco leaf, black tea and black pepper. Medium plus in body and elegant, with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with cherries, currants, cooked plums, light oak, spices, chocolates, licorice, herbs, peppercorn and green vegetables. Tangy finish with medium tannins and raspberries. This is a very tasty Cabernet Sauvignon from Dry Creek Valley in California. Fruity and entertaining. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Showing lots of earth notes at this point. Showing great complexity, especially on the nose, and easy drinking right out of the bottle. I did not decant it and let it open in the bottle. This 11 year old Cabernet Sauvignon gets earthier as it opens up, and feels like a California Cabernet with a touch of old world. Drinking at its peak now, and will continue to drink nicely in the next few years. I had it 6 years ago, and it is drinking better now. A good sipping wine that will pair nicely with food too. A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot. A small production of only 1,400 bottles. 13.7% alcohol by volume. 91 points. $70 (current vintage).

Opus One 2022, Napa Valley, California Dark ruby in color with a wide purplish rim. Earthy nose and medium plus in body with medium plus acidity. Dry on the palate with nice complexity. Showing red and black fruits with cedar, earth, tobacco leaf, herbs, peppercorn, mediterranean spices and chocolate notes. Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and raspberries. This Bordeaux blend from Napa Valley is extremely young and needs 10 years in the bottle to mature properly. Elegant and fruit forward, yet restrained. I've had many different vintages of this wine, but never had it so young. Not as powerful as some other vintages, but already complex and nicely balanced. Feels like a good quality Left Bank Bordeaux, and will continue to age nicely, and get better in the next 20 years. Robert Parker 95 points. Wine Spectator 92 points. A good sipping wine that will also pair nicely with a big piece of steak. A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot and 1% Malbec.
