What I enjoy the most, I would say it's coming up with the history.

Could be a story or legend one character tells another, or the traces left in the landscape.

It's places for me. I don't really understand how places work in real life--I have literally been lost inside a public bathroom--and my sense of direction simply doesn't exist. Places don't make sense to me so I have trouble writing them so other people can glean a sense of place.

My debut novel, The Colors That Haunt Us, released October 8!

It’s a sapphic gothic tragedy about a painter, a ghost, and a manor that refuses to let go of its secrets.

You can find it here: www.aspenrayne.com/books

I started my own e-zine which is a bit nerve-wracking but also super exciting. I just put the call out for submissions due November 7 and I'll do the first post November 14.

Mermac springs park the spring by the mini cave in the fall with railing and a walkway around the spring. In orange text is the title The Cave & Prairie Chronicals which is also reflected in the water.
