To begin the week, a #WeeBee who looks like he just had his "hair" brushed by his mum before leaving the hive for the day. Have a lovely week folks.

Pink petals of a Cosmos flower spread out underneath a common Carder Bee. The insects wings are spread wide, showing the delicate, veined texture of the gossamer structure, while its buff and black fuzzy striped abdomen looks almost as if it has been brushed into a quiff.

There's always a wee bee 🐝😉👋

A wee bumblebee hovers beside a cluster of purple flowers, its legs curled beneath its black-and-golden body. Fine hairs, a glossy dark eye and translucent wings stand out against a softly blurred background of green foliage and purple blooms.

A short video of a happy #weebee in Wisley’s World Food Garden which is where I am heading this morning. It is the RHS celebration of growing and eating this weekend with cooking demonstrations and talks about growing food so I think we will be busy!

Have a buzztastic Saturday lovelies 😊🐝👋

A golden-furred bumblebee hovers just above a deep purple flower, its black face angled down towards the petals and fine legs dangling beneath it. Softly blurred wings suggest movement, while rich green foliage frames the bee along the left and lower edges.

Here comes the weekend 🥳

A wee bumblebee hovers facing the camera above vivid purple flowers, its translucent wings softly blurred in motion. Golden fur frames its dark face, dusted with yellow pollen, while a bright orange pollen bundle clings to one hind leg. Soft green foliage fills the background.

A Bee, black legs fixing it in place above the yellowish and nectar-rich centre of a purple Aster-type flower, its long tongue deep into the nectar-rich centre while the antennae probes for more goodies. The large, bulbous eyes in the black head are concentrating on the work. The insect has a honey coloured fuzzy upper body while the lower abdomen is black and white striped.

To celebrate today's news that a #WeeBee, specifically a Buff-Tailed bumbler, has won a vote to feature on Bank of England notes, here is one of the little darlings in my garden earlier this year.

A Buff-Tailed Bumblebee with trademark fuzzy white bum and yellow and striped jersey, atop a purple thistle.
The Bank of England ran a public vote to decide on which four wildlife creatures would feature on new notes and the Bee (Bombus terrestris) was a clear winner, receiving 360,399 votes, nearly 90,000 more than the barn owl (Tyto alba). Almost 500,000 votes were cast, including mine. Guess which one chose. 🐝

A Common Carder Bee hangs underneath purple Salvia Amistad blooms, during a heavy downpour. The flowers are covered in small drops of water above as the insect is suspended upside down using its black legs to gain purchase while its fuzzy yellow and black body works away below. The Bee's bulbous eyes are focused on the nectar within as its antennae and proboscis disappear to probe for the goods. The background is of a blurred-out grey wooden garden fence.

#WeeBee raving for #AlphabetChallenge #WeeNforNeon like it's 1989 😂

An original unedited fluffy golden-and-black bumblebee rests on purple flowers against a softly blurred green background. Styled for a 1989 rave, it wears a pink-and-lime headband with a yellow smiley-face pin and a neon green bangle, while holding a glowing green stick in its front legs. The rave accessories were added using AI for a playful edit.

A Buff-tailed Bumblebee, black and yellow stripes with white tail, to the left of frame, appears to pause by a price label for an Erica plant at the garden centre before continuing upwards to the pink blooms to feast on the free nectar. The the plant casts shadows on the pot below and the label that includes various other information too boring to interest our bee or you, probably.
