Or was Mea right about your house bein’ full of a bunch’a grumpy Russian cats?” Something resembling amusement actually graced Misha’s features at that. “I do not keep pets. My work schedule would not allow additional responsibility to ensure the animal is properly taken care of, nor do I currently possess the finances to curate a proper fresh diet that would be fully balanced for it.” He took another sip of his tea, a low hum rumbling in his chest in consideration, “I have a daughter. I collect her at the end of my shifts–” He paused as Nick suddenly jolted like he’d been electrocuted, raising a brow. “I apologize. Do you not agree with my assessment of being a proper pet owner, Доктор? (doctor)” Nick had half-risen from his seat at the sheer casualness of the bombshell that Misha had just dropped about him having a child. It was a revelation that, coming from him of all people, hit with the same force as a Code Black announcement. He slowly lowered himself back into his chair, his hands splayed on the table as he stared at the other across from him like he’d grown a second head.2/3 ss of natalia content: His mothers had gone on vacation, it was a weekend, and he refused to leave a seven-year-old alone in his apartment, especially considering how his shifts at the hospital notoriously ran longer than scheduled. Not to mention, Misha's lack of trust or faith in others left hiring someone to care for the little girl as an absolute no go. And now, he was here, swarmed by nurses and residents alike, a duffle bag slung over his shoulder and Natalia perched on his hip, clutching a massive purple unicorn plushie and beaming at everyone who showed her attention, smiling and waving, showing off her stuffed toy. The young man, on the other hand, looked extremely overwhelmed— even for how outwardly composed he held himself— as he caught the attention of the entire Bay in one fell swoop, because who would have guessed Misha, of all people, was a father? Connor seemed rather appalled by the idea, while Anabella cooed and waved at Natalia, absolutely alight as the little girl talked her ear off. 3/3 ss of natalia content: Misha exhaled slowly, glancing down at Natalia. He was protective of his daughter, that was no secret. He wasn’t overbearing— at least he tried not to be— but this was different. Bringing her to the hospital and allowing her to interact with his coworkers was one thing; he could observe, there were no connections that would thread into his personal life, and it was easy to let her interact with those he worked with on an almost daily basis because it was good for her, considering she was quite the social butterfly. But allowing Natalia to interact one-on-one with the man who had somehow become his partner once their relationship hit that year benchmark he’d set? That was something else entirely. What if their relationship failed? What if Natalia got attached to Nick and everything fell apart? That would hurt her and he didn’t like that thought.
