🌾🧬The qCR8 locus holds two linked nitrate reductase genes, CR8.1 and CR8.2. Their additive activity boosts nitrate uptake, grain yield, and nitrogen use efficiency.

Alleles from cultivar 9311 are favorable for breeding. #plantscience @jipb.bsky.social onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

🌾🧬 A dual-layer allele engineering framework pairs protein design with regulatory tuning. In rice, it produced herbicide-resistant OsHPPD variants tolerating four times the field rate—and worked in wheat. #plantscience @natplants.nature.com www.nature.com/articles/s41...

📚 FROM THE ARCHIVE 📚

The ascorbate–glutathione cycle sits at the core of redox regulatory networks. Ascorbate, glutathione and reactive oxygen species link energy metabolism to signalling pathways but also serve many other functions.

APX, ascorbate peroxidase; DHAR, dehydroascorbate reductase; GSH, reduced glutathione: GR, glutathione reductase; GSSG, glutathione disulfide; MDHA, monodehydroascorbate; MDHAR, monodehydroascorbate reductase.
