There are two predominant Open Source camps apart from the Linux world that are called BSD. No, not LSD. BSD stands for something obscure in the world of Computer Science from the days of #Unix.

There are two smaller developer spheres within this world named BSD. They are #NetBSD and FreeBSD.

I just want to take a moment to appreciate the #Purescript team members that turned around a fix for my #NetBSD issue faster than I expected. https://github.com/purescript/spago/issues/1418

Hi! I'm looking for a job or gig! I live in the US (Central Indiana), and would much much rather work remotely.

I have system administration experience with #WindowsServer, #Linux, and #OpenBSD professionally. I strongly prefer the #BSD family of OSes and am willing to work with #NetBSD and […]

Update on my #netbsd sidequest. I tried installing it on a newer machine and I can't get the gpu drivers to work (AMD iGPU) 😔.

This does kinda feel like linux 10 years ago. But I don't know if that's all bad? Yeah not being able to get your gpu working is bad.

But tech didn't feel as bad then...

Learned the hard way with #NetBSD : if you want the #gd and/or #ImageMagick libraries in PHP (commonly required if you're installing Wordpress or in my case, @movim), one must install the X11 sets when installing NetBSD.

You can install them later using `sysinst`, however, have a back-up of […]

I am intrigued by #NetBSD and I think I'll try dual booting when I have some free time. My big question is, how do you fill gaps when there isn't an application available in pkgsrc? Say for instance I wanted to run Vivaldi, am I SOL until they decide to port over, if ever? Or, do you run a […]

In case you are wondering which desktop/wm to use with your fresh #NetBSD installation, don't. #CTWM is a great piece of software and there is no need for anything else (except perhaps a good .ctwmrc). My two cents.
