In Thailand I got chatting to a monk who spoke English. He explained to me that a man could be a monk for as long or short a time as he wished. This particular guy said he was doing five years as a sort of penance. From that time, I viewed the robes as the monks, not so much the people in them. This is a pastel drawing on black paper of the monk walking away.
