I always remember this movie ending with John crying to take the doll/money back. #horrorwatch

Did not expect a musical sequence at the end, but there's so much going on. 🙏

So many movies would have the kid gloat over Mitchum's capture. #horrorwatch

He knows his mother is dead. He said it aloud himself not a couple of scenes before. But when he hears it said aloud by the police, it's just too much. #HorrorWatch

John is ACAB all the way #horrorwatch

Quite the movie. The ending fell rather flat for me, but outside of that I was really impressed. Sure a memorable-looking film, and musical in a really interesting way. That's one I'll definitely watch again. Thanks, all! #horrorwatch

So it was a Christmas movie? Like #DieHard ?

It's remarkable just how much critics at the time did not like this movie. The NYT called it "a weird and intriguing endeavor," while the Chicago Tribune said, "Seldom has so much ugliness been put into one movie." 🫤 #HorrorWatch

I love the reprise of his "Don't!" from when his father was arrested. It feels so real and unexpected. #horrorwatch

The police already caught Harry, how is there more movie???

#HorrorWatch #TheNightOfTheHunter

Definitely not in mine. It feels like something my family would have found offensive. Only Jesus had a crown of thorns, and to say you had one would have been a gross miscomparison. "Cross to bear" was fine, but that one I think was far more pervasive in the common vernacular. #horrorwatch
