I said they needed to lock it down for the first 10 minutes of the half and they conceded on the 11th. 🤦‍♂️ #COLvSJ

56' GOAL SAN JOSE

Earthquakes get their third dangerous free kick of the night. This time it goes back post, is volleyed to center and no one collapses on the ball before Dave Romney can send it through about 6 pairs of Pids' legs.

Nico didn't stand a chance.

COL 1 | 1 SJ #COLvSJ

55' Loïc Williams goes stride for stride with Timo Werner to chase down a ball behind the backline. At their meeting point with said ball, Williams stiff armed Werner away with ease. #COLvSJ

51' Farkhi has good balance and shoulder angling, when the ball is at his feet, to round defenders and force them to foul or release him. This time was a foul. #COLvSJ

48' Paxten Aaronson again with a great chance. Dribbles his defender onto his heels and puts one nearly near post. Edwards swats put for a corner.

Pax wants one and posthaste. #COLvSJ

46' Paxten Aaronson gets a huge rip off from the top of the box on a cutback pass. No one in front of him and he had time to wind up. Edwards gets his hands up to parry it from sneaking under the crossbar. #COLvSJ

HALFTIME: COL 1 | 0 SJ

Still, SJ have clearly watched the tape on #Rapids96 and have an eye for launching the ball over/through our backline and pressing something into happening. Pids have looked at times beaten, bracing and bold in dealing with those balls.

Have to lockdown next 10'.

HALFTIME: COL 1 | 0 SJ

#Rapids96 end a half in which they conceded first with a 1-0 lead to take into the locker room.

Wells is surely pleased with the way they're spreading out SJ's backline to open both passes and dribbles up the middle.

Farkhi lively, Whittaker cool, Phillip strong. #COLvSJ

45+2" YELLOW CARD 🟨 LOÏC WiLLIAMS

Dissent? #COLvSJ

45' FIVE MINUTES STOPPAGE ADDED #COLvSJ

43' YELLOW CARD 🟨 JACK JASINSKI

Bear hugged Farkhi away from receiving a pass. #COLvSJ

34' Nico Hansen comes out to parry away a dangerous Timo Werner cross into the box. Third real action of the night for Nico: emergency outlet pass, rescinded meg goal, outstretched parry. #COLvSJ

26' GOAL #RAPIDS96|

DONAVAN PHILLIP, the Saint Lucian Sensation, skies over his marker on the corner to head the ball down, to the far post and in.

Paxten Aaronson delivered the corner from the left flag.

COL 1 | 0 SJ #COLvSJ

25' Whittaker with some nifty dribbling in the box to get a pass off. It either gets to an open Rapid or goes for a corner. This time it's a corner. Smart play. #COLvSJ

21' Morgan Whittaker with a beautiful stepover to take in a pass in the box while throwing is marker off. Slots it out to Donavan Phillip who gets a good shot off, but Edward gets to ground to collect it. #COLvSJ

18' Vitor Costa gets absolutely DRILLED in the face by the ball. Rob Holding, Captain tonight, gives the San Jose man a considerate check and kind pat on the shoulder. #COLvSJ

16' We nearly get another back build blunder as Werner presses the back pass between Williams and Holding. Williams rather boldly or bumblingly taps it back to Hansen with Werner in the GK's face. Hansen gets it out to Holding, who clears. Phew. #COLvSJ

15' Of Note: Rapids whole team huddled up, just outside their box, to discuss the concession. Getting ANY RESULT after giving up the first goal has been a point of emphasis for the player's and coaches. #COLvSJ

14' SAN JOSE GOAL RESCINDED

Center Ref called to VAR and comes back to rule Judd in an offside position. Judd looked to have his toes in his half, but the other 98% of his body across the halfline.

Bail out for #Rapids96. #COLvSJ

12' GOAL SAN JOSE

Preston Judd, who most of the press box and field players in black this was offsides, gets the ball with nothing but green and Nico Hansen in front of him. Megs Hansen, GOAL.

This one's going to review. #COLvSJ
