Interesting how much the then-new technology of the Steadicam was used in #TheHeretic, since prior to its invention, cinematographer Owen Roizman improvised a lawn chair sling suspended from a bungee cord to get Steadicam-like stair shots in the original #Exorcist.

"But you're not a masochist, are you?"
"I suppose I must be, otherwise I wouldn't be making movies."

I enjoyed #HeavensGate when I saw it this past July, but it does NOT need to be 3 hours and 40 minutes long

Having your film be so hated it inspires legislation is crazy work! #BoormanAndTheDevil #TCMParty

Oh, heavens! Bill Friedkin tells The. Best. Stories. 😂

He also talked about how he was screening "Sorcerer" and a projectionist said he was showing "Exorcist II" in the next screening room. Friedkin goes in there, sees it and incredulous asks, "What is this shit?!"

When the director says, “I’d rather have fallen off of a skyscraper than endure the release of my movie,” you know you’re in for a helluva time. #BoormanAndTheDevil #tcmparty

Fun to see Garrett Brown's original Steadicam demo again. The woman running up the "Rocky Steps" at the end was Brown's girlfriend at the time. #BoormanAndTheDevil #TCMParty

This documentary provides the eternal reminder: It doesn't matter how much money is being poured into the movie, how big the sets, how wild the visual effects. The key thing is always:

The. Script.

That goes belly up, your movie goes belly up.

Sorcerer is underrated! I’m was so poorly marketed. And that’s a shame. I’m glad it’s started to get the respect it deserves, including a Criterion release. #BoormanAndTheDevil #TCMParty

I remember that series--I recall turning in mainly for the Twilight Zone: The Movie episode (I was 8 when that very preventable tragedy happened, and it was in the news constantly).

So clearly they never heard what happened during the making of GWTW and Lust In the Du-Duel In The Sun? How Selznick kept rewriting the script (amongst other things) & while it resulted in one classic movie, it also resulted in a career dooming flop?

There was a series on AMC called Cursed Films a few years ago. The first episode is about the first Exorcist movie. Very interesting series! #BoormanAndTheDevil #TCMParty
