Of course! ESPECIALLY if I like them 😏

But I have also learnt to be enough of an adult about my #writing not to allow it to affect my relationships too much if someone doesn't like my #stories.

What. She. Said.

I use both the #Oxfordcomma and #emdashes all the time myself, and I have never used #AI beyond internet research.

I've certainly never used it for #writing my #stories!

I am beyond grateful to have such a fantastic group of #betareaders.

To be honest, the tweaks are invariably very useful. And on a couple of occasions the feedback has led to me almost #rewriting the #story. So, I guess the answer to your question is, BOTH!

Oh, I always send the stories out to my set of 8 beta readers after I've done some work on the draft story.

They are all familiar with my work, and thankfully "get" my writing. So, their feedback is always honest and usually really useful! Ditto with editors I respect if they have time.

If only. Sigh.

Nowadays, #writers seem to be expected to spend as much time on #bookpromotion as they are on actually #writing a #story and getting through the actual #publishing process... 🤷🏽

I've been thinking about this a lot cos there are so many notes worth #writing down, I know I don't remember everything. And yet still somehow I cannot make myself break the (bad habits of a lifetime!

I'll do it today 🤞🏽 Thanks for the reminder.

Something to remind oneself of on the days when the laptop glitches, or you lose a story because the file didn't save properly!

I use both all the time myself, and I have never used AI. I hate it.

And I said as much in my recent newspaper article on Artificial Convenience versus Real-life Consequences!

Because people who don't do any writing basically decided that the effort that goes into producing and publishing a story

(aka ripping a book out of your guts and making yourself vulnerable by putting it out into the world)

just does not make #writers' lives hard enough...

If you are a skilled #editor willing to #killyourdarlings, you *can* (and many published and well regarded #writer friends of mine do) #edit their own work.

It's not for everyone, tho.
