"Four dead-end kids with a flair for crude noise rock antics... Listen at your own peril."
— Buzz Monroe, Mashed Hits Magazine

A 2-image landscape layout in B&W and pale blue-gray. The left side shows the black record cover for the Carthaginian Eunuchs' 'No Surrender' EP. The band name forms a right-angle at the top left, with the title at the bottom left. The right side features a high-contrast crop of the stone face of a Ba'al Hammon statue. The right side of the layout displays a gritty, torn-edged newspaper clipping of the music review by Buzz Monroe from Mashed Hits Magazine, set against an abstract halftone pale blue-gray background. At the bottom right of the panel, two young comic characters are reading the magazine together. A speech bubble from one character reads: 'Vile Mashed Hits! Abominable Buzz Monroe! The Eunuchs are g-e-n-i-u-s-e-s!' The scene beautifully blends typography, collage elements, and character dialogue into a raw 1980s underground zine aesthetic.

"Thursday, 21 March 198-, 21:42. On Full Supermoon night, an eagerly awaited gig is cancelled."
Bummer! The Carthaginian Eunuchs show at the Square Hole Club is off due to an aggressive crab infestation. 🦀

Highly detailed, atmospheric B&W comic panel with elements of collage and expressive typography. At night under a full moon, youth subculture crowds and two riot police wait outside the Square Hole Club. On the left, a diverse list of gig dates is displayed in mixed typefaces. The main marquee prominently reads: 'Beware!!! Aggressive crab infestation. All gigs cancelled until further notice.' To the far right, a main character looks disappointed beneath a thought bubble reading: 'Bummer!' The top of the panel features a stark caption frame: 'Thursday, 21 March 198-, 21:42. On Full Supermoon night, an eagerly awaited gig is cancelled.'

Working on In Search of the Cuckoo Bird, my upcoming book from D+Q, collecting issues 69-76 of King-Cat. Here's a foto of my "Favorite TV Preacher" (KC 70, Sept. 2009), Charles Stanley, whose teachings consoled me on many a lonely Saturday night.
