Viewpoint: a cleared area on the edge of a forest, elevated above a lake. A bench made of two halves of a split log supported by 4 sections of log, is angled to form a V facing the water. Islands in the lake, and the hills beyond, are covered in dense evergreen forest. Behind the log bench, another evergreen holds its branches overhead; understory shrubs, deciduous, are turning orange, losing leaves. Douglas-fir cones are scattered over the soil around the benches.
