#birdoftheday today is any birds who belong to the class #Paridae + I've just learned today that a Long Tailed Tit is not considered to be 1 of this species - the clue's in the name surely? 🙃 Anyhoo here are my picks of pics

a blue tit in a scene that creates a pretty pastel colour palette I think. the blue tit is a mixture of lemon breast, pale blue wings and olive back with white cheeks and a darker blue crown. He is sat on a cushion of soft green and lemon leaves and the background is a muted shade of dark lilac

A coal tit is foraging on the ground with its legs spread wide as if ready to spring away. It is sat upon some grey gravel, behind which autumn leaves are piled, orange and brown. The bird is facing the camera with its head turned to the left, its eye shining set in a jet black cap above a white cheek

A Great tit is sat high on a silver branch, set against a bright blue sky and he is singing. He has a lemon coloured breast with a thick black stripe down the centre spreading into a thick black patch under the beak and carrying on around its neck in a collar and up to his crown. White cheeks finish off the outfit

A marsh tit sits atop the fluffy seeds of a thorny thistle. The thistle it is sat on has turned brown whereas the one seen to the left of its still has green leaves. Long sharp thorns protrude all around stem beneath the the flower head that has gone to seed and looks like a cup of cotton wool. The little bird as a cream breast, graduating to a soft tan colour as the base. It has nut brown tones on its back and a black cap with cream cheeks.

For Rob’s #BirdOfTheDay theme of #paridae, here is a #BlackCappedChickadee. Chickadees don’t come this far south, but I’m going to Pennsylvania for a month so I’m hoping for many sightings.

This tufted titmouse came to my feeder for a day in May, and then was gone. Here on Central Florida's east coast, we are at the southern exteme of their range (i.e., they shouldn't be here). These aren't great shots, but I was excited to see one here.

Willow Tits carve their own nest holes in rotten stumps. They chisel out the wood themselves rather than using an existing cavity like other tits. Sadly they've vanished by 90% since the 70s, one of Britain's fastest declining birds.
