If the #Cubs are foolish enough not to re-sign Seiya Suzuki this offseason, I'm here to say thank you to the guy who's been their best hitter over the past five seasons.
Not to mention, he's hilarious!

It was 2 games. PCA has nothing to be sorry for. #Cubs

Yeah, 2003 was awesome - right up until the whole Barman fiasco and Dusty's failure to change the narrative. At least this season CC didn't decide to pick fights w/ the media and egg his players on to pile on.

Since 2000? Are we forgetting the Dusty failures? 2003 when he doesn't bother to call a TO and go settle his team down? 2004 when he decides to pick a very public fight w/ the media and winds up missing the playoffs?
Baker still really pisses me off, and not just about this.

Well, sure. Isn't that the point of how the WC series is structured? More playoff games for revenue, but a big thumb on the scale to reward regular season performance.
The WSox overcame. Philly at least made it a tussle. What the #Cubs did goes far beyond just short series/away randomness.
He's another player that really calls into question #Cubs coaching and development. He hit LHP better than RHP, so you can't blame it on not platooning him.
The more I look at the entire franchise, big picture, the more I'm convinced its programs are fatally flawed.
It's concerning, but his practice ethic is top-notch. And thank goodness he was there when Swanson went down.
Also, fwiw, he was easily the WC series #Cubs MVP, pretty much the only player who showed up. Suzuki was passable - barely. The rest? Making tee times since they were already in SoCA.
Also, they suck at development and are reluctant to pay until they're forced to admit they simply don't have enough at a position. Look how long it took to fix 3B. For Hoyer, Happ is good enough. And he'll probably pay him before Suzuki, which would be so on-brand.

Remember what an adventure it was when he first moved to the OF from 2B, usually in CF to start? Oy vey! He's come a very, very long way, and mucho props to him for making the most of what he was given.
#Cubs
The problem is that games aren't decided by aggregate performance. The #Cubs don't get to bank the extra runs when they blow up mediocre pitching on teams mailing it in. And once again, this blind spot shows up in the playoffs.
Strongly disagree. Over the previous 4 seasons, since taking 2B full-time, he's averaged 5.3 (AS-level) bWAR. And he backs up SS w/out losing defense, and it's easier to fill 2B. Yeah, this season was a head-scratcher. But one wonders if this is more signs of #Cubs systems issues than just him.
