A yellow orange filter...in filming black and white. I know nothing
#TheNoirCollective

It's hard to give up on someone you love. Even if you should. Only the individual knows when they have to walk away. It doesn't always make sense.

Yes, it's really dark, like Ace in the Hole 😱

THE MOUSE AND THE BAT by Dr. Seuss - not his most popular work. #TheNoirCollective

Ok. Eyes averted. Sound off. Is the 🦇 scene over? 6 weeks ago I woke up to a bat flying around in my bedroom. It was horrifying, & I ended up needing to get rabies shots because that’s the protocol now if you wake up to a bat in the room w you. 😱 #TheLostWeekend #TheNoirCollective

That is interesting. I did think the "nurse" sounded anachronistic.

It is almost unbearable to watch this movie it is so painful

Seitz: “Since the character is having the DTs…I lit it just as harsh as possible…We did most of that first effect on Milland’s face with makeup and an orange-yellow filter which really made him look God-awful. So that gave us something to shoot toward for the rest of the film.” #TheNoirCollective

As per critic William Ahearn: “There would be many alcohol and substance abuse films in the coming decades – The Man With the Golden Arm and A Hatful of Rain, among others – yet it wouldn’t be until Panic in Needle Park that any film would surpass the realism of #TheLostWeekend.” #TheNoirCollective

And our leading men for this edition of #TheNoirCollective are Ray Milland, Phillip Terry, Howard da Silva and Frank Faylen

@scenarist.bsky.social asked me last week, “Can we also say this film started or expanded the addiction struggle film? Not obsession, but actual addiction?” Absolutely. As one example, I don’t see how Louis Malle’s The Fire Within (1963) exists without #TheLostWeekend. #TheNoirCollective

I've actually seen bats flying around free before. It scared me. #thenoircollective
