#Septversary
Is a huge part of her arch.

The second is a spoiler, but suffice to say something happens in book 1 that each of the characters handle in their own way: Arlo accepts it, Henet gets angry, Roderika denies it happened.

Mary is depressed because, I mean, her entire life just turned out

Frighten and indoctrinate their children.

Now Mary is pretty clued into the fact that the Church is built wholely on lies by the end of book 1, but that only goes so far when her misconceptions are this ingrained.

Navigating that and learning that her new friends are in fact people

1) Mary joins the group, unintentionally adding a whole bunch of chaos to the mix. The culture she was raised in does not see Tala or Henet as people, and specifically uses stories about Wyldkin (animals pretending to be people to corrupt good Faithful) and Elves (literal demons), to

So initially, the base group of Roderika, Tala, Arlo, and Henet, are all pretty good at cooperating. They all grew up together (Henet is a weird case but elvish lifespans make everything weird).

Then at the end of book 1, 2 things happen that shakes up their established relationships:

Artemisia didn't have friends growing up, either because her father found them beneath her station, or because she was too focused on books and found other nobles boring. This means at the start, she is still looking at life transactionally and not really great at collaboration

#Septversary 3. Good at collaborating? Absolutely not. But they must learn it, too. And learn they do! If Ashrah and Sareena literally crashed into one another earlier due to their lack of coordination during fights, later they moved as one graceful and lethal body! 🧵

#Septversary I'd definitely say that the characters in Aloe are; they need to collaborate to survive. The MCs are in an active refugee situation, fighting an oppressive authoritative govt

Rebecca from Such Sweet Sorrow is the opposite. She's so independent that she's usually unable to ask for help.

@zadafalcon.bsky.socialSep 3, 2026, 12:21 PM

3) Collaboration

The Falcons (Renard, Jenette, Killer, and Speedy) are messy. They're a team of found family misfits. They butt heads on occasion, but mostly they get along.

Renard is their leader. He does not rule with an iron fist. The others feel free to question him.

This goes beyond just TCOM for me! My characters in general usually have to figure out how to work with others.

Everyone is unique (including their magical critter companions!) and have different ways of interacting with their world and problem solving within it.

@joannamasters.bsky.socialSep 3, 2026, 11:28 AM

Those who gather for the Truce aren't good at working together. It's a chance for various dark forces and warlords to compare notes and boast. There IS the annual game of assassination tag, though.

(Two collections here... one showing what villains do during the holidays!)

Yes and no. Ultimately, Lia and Roman *are* partners and work together well. But he expects to be obeyed without question, and she has a stubborn streak, so there's a lot of bickering involved.

In THE HEART IS A WEAPON, they must work together to thwart the efforts of vampire hunters. #Septversary

#Septversary (remembered to add this tag yay)

Chet and An are more extroverted and don't have many issues when working with others

Unlike Eva and Carmine who because of their own personal baggages have a harder time working with people, specifically those they aren't comfortable with

#Septversary Day 3: Collaboration

WIP1 - Julie & Izzy go through stages. In the beginning, they're two peas in a pod. They get so close that they can communicate without speaking. Then they're not so close and it becomes harder. But when they try again, it all comes back easily. This time stronger⬇️

@rhysackhurst.bsky.socialSep 3, 2026, 6:12 AM

A lot of them are surprisingly good at working together. Lu needs some convincing when his siblings and Sorrel make a plan to all leave the castle together, but he comes around.

Stella, Sol, and Gabriel *can* work with others, but only if their goals are aligned from the start. ⬇️

#Septversary

@rhysackhurst.bsky.socialSep 3, 2026, 6:09 AM

Lu has moments where he can be totally authentic. He can dress however he wants without issue (dresses and makeup or suits) but when it comes to publicly dating/courting Sorrel when they're younger, he can't. Not because they're men, but because of their parents. Sorrel's father

#Septversary D3: My two MCs work well together b/c they're very close as friends. Bekah loves taking charge in a group or at least being a voice of authority. Katie loves being helpful and working with others even if she's incredibly anxious and insecure. She's always second guessing herself.

@bumblebigirl.bsky.socialSep 3, 2026, 5:37 AM

Dido is perhaps not the best with people, which is a shame as quite a lot of them are expecting her to save their lives, something she isn't coping with well.

Wendy does not play well with others, or herself for that matter. But who needs friends when you can't die, right?

They collaborate by Krainos asking shallow questions, Xenon giving vague answers, and Krainos never trying to get clarification. 🤣 Xenon knows their happiness depends on it, & I think Krainos subconsciously picks up that something else is going on and he needs to have deniability.

@pykeredrock.bsky.socialSep 3, 2026, 5:27 AM

They're all a bit different 😅

Dhivra is probably the best at collaborating. She's good at seeking advice from trusted companions on critical decisions and she delegates appropriately. Overall she's a good organiser and trusts people where they're competent. 1/3

Kyoka: is overall very good at collaborating. She specifically makes room for others to excel. She /does/ have moments of arrogance that get her in trouble with her loved ones, though.
