Day one of #PRGE.. exhausted but almost time for dinner with the crew!

Portland Retro Game Expo day one haul. Really happy with the mix of consoles and genres. I owned Landstalker and C&C before, the rest will be new to me.

I need a Power Base Converter to play SMS card games but didn't find one; using the Power Base Mini currently. It'll turn up eventually. #PRGE

Saw @juliaminamata.bsky.social ‘s The Crimson Diamond at the Sierra Legends display at the #prge museum area

I really enjoyed trying the Popeye punching bag arcade cabinet - nowhere close to the 900+ score I saw, but I’m pleased to get around 413 iirc

#prge

To clarify (in case there's confusion) I'm still going to #prge but I'll just be delaying the demo launch until I can sort out the game-breaking bugs I keep hearing about from playtesters. Giving it more time to cook I think will benefit the project.

- Bring stuff you want signed (I forgor, sadness)
- Bring refillable water bottle (they have fountains)
- Bag checks on re-entry to Exhibit Hall
- Browse a lil, there’s a wide range in prices, but don’t delay too long - Friday was pretty active with hunters
#prge

Ok! Protips collected so far from Portland Retro Gaming Expo:
- Bring cash! Signal inside not great and vendors are struggling
- Friday has less crowding and pretty good access to everything - would do again
- Bring a collapsible reusable bag (or 3) - super-useful

Spyro baby!!! This guy I found out was going to get scrapped but it was saved. From #PRGE #PRGE2026

Another interesting catch by @bwalker81.bsky.social as we walked by the VA and famous people area at #prge : no video recording glasses allowed

Thought hadn’t occurred to me, but yeah, they sell photo-ops and appearances and those glasses are another way to subvert that

Yes, talked with the creator of Dreamshark today at #prge and it’s an absolute passion project

There’s a lot of love and thoughtfulness baked in and he is on Instagram at dreamshark

I bought some video games. Some of them are better than others!

Some of them are much worse. #prge

This is a fella who has broken his collarbones 4(!) times, so donating to the Michael J Fox Foundation is but a small sacrifice to safely ride a board again #prge

Protip for #prge attendees: Bring cash!

Some vendors are only taking cash or have to deal w/cc charges

The ATMs have long lines here too
