Part one of a poem titled Global Disaster by Robert Emond.

Slowly, the seas rose, the winds blew differently,
A little here and there, not noticeably...
At first; life continued as usual.

But soon the seas rose further, the winds blew
Unexpectedly. Small adjustments contrived in daily
Life, pretending nothing was happening.

No lifestyle changes were made, the seas rose
More and more; the winds became extreme,
Life as usual, no longer reigned supreme.

Soon the seas and winds rose to crisis level.
Disaster on the horizon; arguing and dithering about
What to do, while continuing forward, no change.

Disaster struck the seas roared the winds blew tainted.
The ambulance siren wailed, the emergency room awaited.
Death hovering on wings silent, was it too late?

Acute treatment painful and arduous; life disrupted.
Recovery requiring dramatic lifestyle changes.
Slowly made the seas dwindled, winds calmed.

Life as usual, a dream of the past, there is no returning.
Leisurely it shall resume, if doctor's orders respecting.
If not the end is nigh; all depends upon man's choices.

Hopefully he will live in this new world; this new way.
Or will he fall back into old patterns and have the
Seas and winds rise again for the final time.

Only time will tell.

Sodium laurate is the sodium salt of a fatty acid (lauric acid),
and classified as a soap. It is a white solid.

Sing a song of servitude,
A barrel full of wine.
Four and twenty parasites
Standing in a line.

When the line was lengthened
The fleas began to leap —
Wasn't that a dainty dish
To set before the sheep?

The king was in the counting house
Counting out his money,
The queen was in the parlour
Eating bread and honey.

The realm was full of children
Lacking food and clothes.
Along came a poet
And sat and picked his nose.

He picked his nose at funerals
And births and coronations,
At countless anniversaries
And other grand occasions.

He pocketed his tainted gold,
He drank his butt of sherry down,
And paid no heed to food-bank kids
But picked his nose for half a crown.

Sing a song of servitude,
